Cruise to the Ville 2014
I have put on our small town festival's car show for the last 4 years. Each year I try to improve it and make it better. Last year was a tough year to beat. We had 130 cars and trucks. This year we had 79. But, one of the area's biggest swap meets, and another big car show 15 miles away, was the same day this year. Last year I did top 25 cars and trucks, with 3 plaques. This year I had 14 classes and top 3 got trophies in each class, and 3 plaques again. It was a tight year as far as paying for it's self. I was almost in the red this year. I will post up pics as I get them uploaded. It ended up being a great show with less whining from people which helped. It's hard to talk your self into doing one of these when people want to be negative about everything.
Here are the trophies I made for the rat rod class and the unfinished car or truck class.

Nice job on the trophies! Much better than regular gold ones from the shop downtown.
For my 40, you would have to have a "forever" unfinished class. But wait, yours might fit into that class too.

And a lot of the trophy chasers are the gold chainers who buy their rides rather than build them. Nice trophies, Dave!

Yeah, so true. There's a local couple that sold their 56 Chevy to purchase a 32 Vicky. I asked his wife how they liked the Vicky so far and she said, " Oh, you know how these new to you car gremlins are." I responded with, "Yeah mine have them continually as I build them."............... I don't think she really grasped what I was saying.
I'm having issues getting the old lab top up and going. I'll try again tonight so I can get the pics up.Ryan

Every one who has one of your homemade trophies is staring at it like it is the coolest thing. Good Job.

Thanks. Next year I'm pretty sure I'm going to do home made trophies for half of them and the other will be pin striped panels. No more over priced plastic. Don't get me wrong they are ok, but I wasn't real happy with the cost and quality this year.Ryan

Our club went to neat little plaques instead of trophies this year, guys at the show were thrilled to get something to hang on the wall instead of just more plastic for the closet shelf!!!! One of our members has a woodworking shop, he cut out the wood on his fancy CNC machine, a bunch of volunteers did the sanding and finishing, then got plates made at the trophy shop.... Never did hear what the final cost was in comparison to the usual trophy stuff.... Another consideration for you, especially if you know any woodworking dudes!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
