What hot rods have you had and what was your first
Hi everyone I'm fairly new to forum but not to hot rods. I was just thinking back to all the hot rods I've had and lost. Most sold, some lost in divorces ,others wrecked even lost 2 in a flash flood in Pa. Anyway 1st 1971 Duster 340/3spd. 1975 Roadrunner 360,1978 Magnum 360,1977 Cordoba 400,1987 Charger GLHS,1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe,1976 Ford Supercab Ranger 390,1969 Marquis 429,1971 Lincoln Mark iii 460,1969 Ford LTD/Cobra 390, had a couple Pintos 1973,1977 and 1978 Bobcat one had V-6,one had 302,one had a 351C. I like the unusal and none of them ever remained stock . They all may not have started life as hot rods but with my help they got there. Anyway what have you had and miss?Last edited by slincoln 3; 09-27-2014 at 10:31 PM.

I have built and flipped many cars over the years. It was mostly Chevy's, including a small fleet of about seventeen '56-'65 Vettes, and a number of multi-carbed '61-'63 348 and 409 Chevies, including two rare '61 SS models. There were also a couple early Novas, a '69 Camaro SS "ragtop", a couple
willys, and a '55 Cameo pickup.
Favorites would include a couple of the solid lifter 327 Vettes... my red 2x4 409 '62 Biscayne... and a loaded smallblock '63 Nova hardtop. Those all scared me pretty good... and stomped a lot of big block cars of all makes!
Great times! I'm just glad I survived them! :-)~

There are a few that aren’t in here; 62 Chevy II convertible (dropped a small block and glide in that one), 63 Flacon Futura that got a 289 and 4 speed, 351W Powered 71 Pinto and a couple of other V8 Mustang IIs I used to have……funny how pictures and stuff disappear during a divorce or 2 LOL. At least I’ve got some pictures of the majority of them.

.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Way to many to count or even to remember or be honest... But I still have the first official car I had and actually drove. It is a Model A Ford and was an awesome first car... in 1971 When you work on them your always wheeling and dealing cars.

I had quite a hot-wheels collection as a kid :-) ...The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

Wow you guys ain't no joke. My stuff pales in comparison to stuff you all have had. But eveybody has their niche. Other than my Duster,Pintos and GLHS I like big cars, big block Fords and Mopars..Back in the mid 80's I had a big block Cordoba and a 1976 big block Ford Super Cab 2wd pickup(came with 360 but switched out for 64 Galaxie 390). I laid waste to so many 80's Mustangs GTs,,Iroc Zs,Monte Carlo SS,Firebirds,Corvettes I can't even begin to count. My brother had a 1971 Ford pickup with k code 289 and four spd and a 73 Pinto with a 351 . It wasn't safe to come to O.C. Maryland during that time between 1985-95. You wpuld leave with a tear in your eye and lite pockets..I promise!!!!!!Last edited by slincoln 3; 09-29-2014 at 11:49 AM.

This is a cool thread. A quick count in my head I remember 11 hot rods and the other dozen or two slightly modified cars/trucks don't count.
I'll just say my 1st. hot rod was my first 4 wheel vehicle, a 65 International 3/4 ton LWB step side with a 392ci 2bbl. Don't sound like much but in hi school it was the coolest and weirdest thing in the back parking lot. Before I bought it from an older friend we re-did it somewhat. We pulled the dr. shafts, discarded the carrier brg. and rear shaft, cut the shackles off and moved everything forward to match the one dr. shaft. Used a military 4' by 4.5' bed and a 30 gallon barrel for a tank. Replaced the doors with tubing to keep you mostly inside, put a Jeep looking radiator with a military brush guard and lights on and cut the hood the width of the grille back to the width at the hinges and of course lost all the fenders. Moving the r. springs gave it lift in the rear so we did a lift to the front solid axle, added 10" ft. rims to the 8.00 15's and narrow duals on the rear. The motor and clutch were crisp and the low geared spider welded rear end made it impressive off the line and damned scary half way into hi gear.
My 12th. hot rod is in the works now, 1935E Dodge pu with an injected 318 overdr. and .391 limited slip. It's looking a little more refined than my first.

When I think back at the many (cheep then - expensive now) cars that have been through my garage over the years I start to cry so now I focus on what is in my garage NOW .
62 Corvette - L-98 - 6 speed - my 2012 project and done now. driven often.
59 Chev BelAir - LS1 - 6 speed - PS - disks - vintage ac - 18s & 20s - bagged - current project 75% done now
64 Ford Fairlane - just traded my T bucket for it the other day - 289 - c-4 - restored 10 years ago (not by me) future unknown.
The one I really miss is my 55 chevy "gasser" that I had in high school (66-67-68)- 327 dual quad cross ram & big Crower cam - primer black and bad to the bone. it was my daily driver back then.
