Hi Guys, it's been a while
Thought I would stop by and say hello and apologize for my absence at Club Hot Rod. I need to do some reading to catch up with what you guys have been up to. Things are going well for me, I am retired these days and still have my custom '53 Studebaker. I also have recently picked up a good old memory car, a tribute to one I had back in the early 70s. That would be a 1968 Chevy Biscayne, big block, 4 speed, 12 bolt. It is not an original car, it did start life as a V8 and the 12 bolt is date correct and has the 3.73 gears that stamped code says it had originally. As some time in its life it has been a drag car, it has tow tabs welded onto the front frame. Currently is has a .030 over 454, oval port heads, solid lifter cam, Edelbrock intake with a Holley 3310. Makes a pretty good image of an L72 427/425 hp that I want to pay tribute to. Transmission is an M21 with a Hurst Super shifter. It runs great and I have been making a few changes to it to give it a Day 2 image similar to the L72 Biscayne I Had back in the day. Here are a few pictures. Hope you like them.

Welcome home, and I'm guessing here, Pat ?, I do admire both your cars but the Chevy is awesome. We have had one original L72 Biscayne imported down here last year and it has been consuming the miles since around NZ to rod events etc. .I actual wasn't familiar with that model until there was a feature in one of the local Hot Rod mags down here so I'm aware how rare finding a good original one is.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Good to see your name pop up in today's posts. You got a nice survivor in the Biscayne.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Nice Biscayne! I was looking at one last week on CL to drive back and forth to work but it sold before I could get over to look at it. Yours is definitely a nice, survivor looking ride!Ryan

Thanks everybody, I am really enjoying the car and it is a blast to drive. Have not has a 3 pedal car in a while and banging gears does bring back great memories. The odometer says less than 75,000 and I believe it. It has been repainted and had a lot of the interior redone so I guess technically it is not a "survivor." It is extremely straight and I have not found any rust. I have been tweaking things to make it mine. I replaced the 3" exhaust and Flowmaster 44s that dumped in front of the rear wheels with a full system from Pypes. I also took the fuel cell out of the trunk, repaired the trunk floor and put a stock gas tank back in. You can see my "baseline" of how it was when I got it here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/972918...7650608681670/
and I have a second album of updates and changes here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/972918...7650578618747/
Bob, I do remember your 67 and lusted after it when you offered it for sale. I am happy now that I waited till I found the right 68. What size wheels and tires did you have on the front of your car if you recall? I am getting ready to paint my wheels body color and at the same time will put narrower wheels and tires on the front than the 15 x 8 with 225/60s it has now.

Thanks Bob, I am planning on 215/70s on a 15 x 7 Rallye style. The will be slightly narrower and taller than what I have.
Whiplash there is a fellow from Auckland, Mark Barton, that hangs around at the 2doorpost.com forum. He has a '66 L72 Biscayne, maybe that's the one. He also has a 63 Ford 300 with a 427. He likes the big sedans with big power!
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Yep Pat, that's the guy, Mark Barton, and from memory he has a early Roadster too, '30 Ford with a Nailhead engine. His L72 is an real sleeper especially with it's stock look and painted steel rims. As Mike mentioned, real Gran-ma and Pops type car until one feeds the jandal to it.
