not your normal hot rod or street rod

Me and a buddy went to cruising the coast a few weeks ago. We talked about building a street rod of some sort but didn't really have anything in mind. We have decided to do something we think is going to be very different. We found a 1984 E-350... We are talking super stretch that holds 14 people including the driver. 351CI of American power. Heavy duty 8 lug rear axle. 80000 original miles. We are looking to lower suspension 4-6 inches. Paint flat black with red pinstriping. 20' original look alike steel wheels. Luggage rack on top. Sort of like a custom vw van. So my question is, where can I locate lowering I-beams and a flip kit for the rear? Any suggestions welcome

Welcome to CHR. I can't help you with the drop components but I can tell you GM P-30 chassis bread trucks have 8 on 6.5 19.5 wheels. They may need the pilot holes opened up and you would have tried add the alignment dowels in them. That would be a cheap way to get close to 20's on the cheap.

"Z" the frame front and rear, keeping all the suspension geometry the same as stock. Do surgery on the frame and sheet metal, not the suspension.

It's a very ambitious project. Tech's advice sounds good. Z the frame and channel the body.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
