There is a decent 47 Ford woodie on Lynn Pew's site for sale for $97,500. (pewsplace.com) That's typical for a decent driver that has late running gear and air. There is a LOT of crap out there that looks like dog poo....door gaps inconsistent, mismatched grain, lines that don't align, etc. At a national show last year, there was a wood supplier that showed a real dog pile. Woodies are not cheap by any means but buying on price is akin to tossing the money in the toilet.....the end result is a car that is not worth much.

Might be one of the GREAT REGRETS if you just guess.
Something about looking behind closed doors or not.

A friend just bought a 392 Hemi motor with a stroker crank, stock heads, aluminum manifold (built for mud bogs) here in town for $500.
He said no way also, but in the end he did call and tell me about his new motor.

Yes; has the cowl and windshield frame along with the wood parts. There is also a complete '32 on there, but it is way big bucks, black with yellow stained wood.

I called but have not heard back yet. If that is a legit price, I may have to get things in order asap. But, I'm guessing the price is a trolling tactic the 12345 doesn't seem like a normal price. But, who knows, maybe it is. I found that this car sold for a heck of a lot more than the asking price last year at BJ.

The car in the BJ link is at least $100,000 away from being complete.....at least, maybe quite a bit more. Someone might low ball a crap job and finish it for less but then, it would be worth a lot less.

The car in the BJ link is the same car for sale on CL in NM for $12345. We'll see if the price is right, or if it's a tactic to get activity on the ad.

The ad appears legit since the pics are not from Coddington's shop or a BJ location. The guy who placed the ad either cant spell for shit or he has realized it is not a Coddington car and is trying to pass it.....usually BJ would not advertise it as a Coddington car without some verification so I guess I may be a car that was at Coddington's shop. My statement still stands....another $100K to finish the car....to be decent but not spectacular. A head-turner would require another pile o'cash. I think the 12345 is a teaser price to get a fish to bite.

I'll let you know if the seller ever returns a phone call.

Sure beginning to look like a long shot. Wonder why someone would post it like that if not theirs? If it was at BJ's auction, no way it would be priced as a bargain. If it was not his car, why post it? We will keep looking for you Ryan. Good Luck.

This guy actually returned my call today. I see the link says the ad has been deleted. Anyhow, he told me 3 times it was a part of the Boyd Coddington collection and it recently sold at BJ for $87 or $81k. He aquired it, then tore it apart, sand blasted everything and put sealer on it. Now he wants $100k for it. Yep, not for me.

Surprised it was real and not just a photo. Guy is a believer in a name being worth something big, perhaps some names and perhaps some cars. Not here, I do not agree with him.

Back in the mid 80s I started to build a woody from a 1956 Jeep CJ5. The plan was to lower it, and use the body from the dash/cowl forward. I got as far as cutting the body and was in the process of cleaning and painting the frame before I had to abandon that project and my other Jeep project...A CJ2 with a shorty hardtop and a 48 Ford flathead V8. Work demands made continuing either project impractical.
