No. Have the car painted first, then do the interior. It will be easier for whoever paints it to get the jams and all those nooks and crannies without having to worry about removing what you already installed. Not to mention the overspray that WILL get on everything.Mike Casella

Paint first.
Owning an upholstery shop, I couldnt imagine doing a full interior before a car is painted. Ive recovered some panel from overspra damage a few times for my customers when they had small parts of their cars repainted. Id hate to see what a full paint job would do. Rod Doors ads that say "Interior before paint" pisses me off every time I read them.

Paint first ALWAYS. Nothing worse than seeing overspray on carpet/vinyl parts.

As you can see it all depends on who you talk to. The paint guys will tell you have it painted first (and let the upholster worry about not damaging the new paint) and the upholster will want it first (and let the painter worry about overspray, door jambs etc). Of couse the mechanic will tell you he needs to do the drivetrain before it goes to either the painter or upholster.
Most high quality jobs have the paint done before anything else (including glass) is installed.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
