Thread: Help identifying chevrolet from the 50's

Can anyone help me to indentify this car? one friend said it's a chevrolet but don't know year or model Probably 50's..

It's a 1958 Chevrolet. I'm assuming the car is overseas and I'm not really familiar with any with trim and emblem or model name changes that were made between the US sold and export models.

The trim is different than any of the US models, but it could also be custom made by a previous owner (I did a similar scheme on a 58 I used to have).

It's definitely not an Impala. It looks like it's a hardtop (no division bar between the front and rear windows) which would make it a Bel Air. The other 2 lower end models were the Biscayne and Del Ray, but neither were available as a 2 dr Hard Top

Took me a bit to find it. Here's a picture of the 58 Biscayne 2 door Sedan I built 30 years ago. I did pretty much the same trim/paint scheme, but it was all custom. The trim was a combination of Bel Air/Biscayne pieces and the side trim going all the way to the front headlights was eliminated (requiring the filling of 100 trim holes).





The Stainless trim piece between the rear 1/4 window and back glass was a Bel Air only piece (and a real PIA to install ) Also Bel Air only was the stainless trim that goes around the window frame on the doors. I also eliminated the hood and trunk lid emblems (more holes to fill).

Is this car is in Portugal? I know GM made different versions for Australia under Holden Company etc..

Here is a british GM called the 1958 Vauxhall Cresta

Those things (the PA Vauxhall Velox and Cresta,) were pigs of things to oversteer. I carried a bag of sand in the trunk of ours to hold the back end on the ground where it was supposed to be.
And the tin-moth loved them!
They're extremely rare now as most of them finished up as scrap due to rust issues.
