Talk me out of a 46 Panel truck
Stupid Facebook swap. Found this about two hours away and its seems pretty solid. The frame has a camaro sub and rear but he also has the original frame and all the parts to put it back together. I think I can get it for 2k which seems reasonable but not sure if its a steal at that price. If I was to buy it I think I would do an S-10 frame swap with a kit to make it bolt right up with an LS and leave the body alone. Or just flip it and make a buck. I'm kinda an impulse buyer which has landed me some stuff that I regretted later. Any thoughts??Last edited by 53 Chevy5; 08-14-2017 at 06:58 PM.

With the sale of the Camaro to me, I see no problems with you building that panel!
In all seriousness, I say buy it and build it. Going the route you want to go, I'd think a guy could keep it pretty slim line on the budget if you keep blinders on. It would make for a fun, awesome, cool looking rod when you're done.Ryan

It looks like it's got a broken back..

Well, are you one of these chaps that gets their thrills from the build more so than the driving the finished project ? As Ryan mentioned, with your planned route and keeping a tight hold of the budget, you could turn that into a super cool cruiser and thee paint would certainly would tell it's own story. I can imagine that sitting super low to the ground with just the right amount of clearance to be able to drive her without ripping the arse out of her with a, Lord please forgive me now, a late model piss injected engine and slush box, hiding under the sheet steel to make an eye catching beast. I vote yes, you need this and it may also be something that your son may want to help with too.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

That was good! Well, I think I'm going to let it sit, we were going to look at it tomorrow night but I'll be honest. I kinda like not having to work on something every night of the week for right now. It would be an awesome build, even if I used a carburetor In reality, like I said to my wife, it would look awesome but for cruising around you'd bake like a turkey in it and it would be nothing to take on a long road trip for lack of windows. But man it would look awesome. I think I'll just keep moving ahead on the Camaro just so I can taunt Ryan with itSeth

Tease! Don't be a wuss. Put rear A/C in it from the donor burb you buy for the LS. There's your entire drive train. I'm surprised it's only $2k too. It won't last long once the right people see it. HahaRyan

You what ??? You would sacrifice a Ford Coyote for a Chevy ? What is the world coming too ? No, Chevy in a chevy and a chevy in a Ford I can understand unless one has a Buick Nailhead, a Caddy or Olds or even a Y- Block , I can see the potential of a super great cruiser.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Looks like the proverbial money pit to me. I'd start the bidding at 200 bucks. That's if I even liked it, which I don't.

I Think I'm going to let it go, I love the truck but It's been stripped down bare and after talking to him again, he thinks he has all the parts. The " thinks" part gets me a little nervous. I'd be less nervous if he started on it and not the guy before him. I got some more pics and it may not be as grand as he advertised. If I do another undertaking I might want something to fit more people in anyway. I think I'm going to enjoy what I have for now and gear up for the Camaro.Seth

I haven't seen any that weren't money pits. It doesn't matter how much you spend on one initially, they eat it up some where some how. Haha
I don't blame you. Just stick with the Camaro. just put blinders on when you're on trips and stay off CL. That's what I have to do. Haha
I have had a bad hankering for a muscle car with a 4 speed here lately. I picked up that Challenger but it's way far gone, and everything is so expensive for it. I was going to sell it but I'm just going to forget about it until the kids get older. I really want to build some stuff with my kids. My Dad was always stuck at work and we only got the opportunity to repaint a tractor and fix some broken trucks and cars once in a while when I was young. Him and I built a lot of things after I was out of high school though. And that brings me to my next road block. During my searches to find a muscle car project, I keep seeing very, very, rusted out turds for $2k on up. You can't buy much for under $2500 and even if you do it needs everything. Well, then it struck me like a slap to the face. I have Dad's 68 GS400 convertible rotting away at his house. After the 40 is drive able, I'm going to start on his car. If I don't it literally will be junk before I get around to doing it. There were only 2,024 GS400 convertibles with automatics in 68. His has optional rally stripes on it and there were only 466 of those produced. His also supposedly had a Dealer add on Stage 1 kit but I can't find any paper work on that. It also had a tilt column and rally wheel. So this entire time I have been wanting a unique and rare muscle car and it has been setting out in the pasture this whole time. It is going to require frame repair since it's rusted out, and dang near every part replaced. To me it's worth saving just because I want to give it back to him. He was never able to fix it up like he wanted because he put his available time and money into getting stuff for my brothers and I. It still won't kill the 4 speed itch though....... Sorry for the hijack......Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 08-16-2017 at 12:56 PM.
