53 Chev5: Cars are like EX wives.....when they are gone, you never look back or remember much about them. I've owned too many cars to regret selling one.....there's always the next one. My wish list is really short, a 1962 Corvette and a 32 Victoria that hasn't been screwed up with a fat steering column. Never in a million years would I want another 305.....but thanks for noticing!

Good news for you, I found a G you can replace it with Really that does suck when people rip stuff off, it's so dumb.
It's kinda funny how people have different taste. I think the early gen II are the best looking, followed closely by gen 1, then the later gen 2 and I really like the gen 3 also. I think the gen 4 are awful. Gen 5 are ok but I think they should have capitalized on the retro thing like Dodge and Ford did. I'm glad there's not a gen 6 cause I'm sick of typing gen.Seth

Weather stripping for the T - Top,
If you can find it, get GM !!
1A Auto has a reasonably priced set, but it doesn't last 7 years. Ours was garage kept f I r 10 years when we were not driving it, and it's cracking and separating at junctions where the rubber was added to make it longer.
I wiped them occasionally to keep them from doing g just that.
GM can not be beat.

That whole weather striping thing get's my blood boiling every time I think about it. I put new weather striping in my T/A front to back and I'll just say I was less than impressed when I was done.Seth

PS
ONLY IF IT'S NEEDED!
Do NOT try to remove it unless it is
ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY !!
Leaks from the factory are not rare or unheard of.
They are nice to drive with the tops off though.

I almost think T-tops were meant to leak. I put new seals in my vette when we painted it and they leaked as bad as the old missing crap on there before. Figures. I picked up a more expensive set and they're still in the package to be put on. Someday. HahaRyan

I was given this advice refrence to T tops and sunroofs from a good friend, which his father had given him:
"There's a hole in your roof son, one day the rain is gonna come in..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

That doesn't mean it WILL.
I did not know if you had experience with a T - Top.
I was wanting to let you know theat IF it leaked and the stripping was in good condition -- factory new, there were
many cars taken in for
inspection // adjustment // replaced stripping.
Then again, there are those that have never had an issue.
I do apologize that I jumped on the stripping and stirred a nest of hornets.
Please enjoy driving it. I take tops off once in a while.
Although not a collector's item, they do get a smile and nod once in a while.
There are great looking and running 3rd Gens at the drag strip, road courses, and survivors.
It appears you have a very nice survivor.
Cross bridges if they come up.

My friend had one when we were in high school. 83 with cross fire, his Dad dumped so much money into that thing it was crazy. That car had a hard life. His brother wrecked it bad, he wrecked it bad, then later his girl friend wrecked it again. Dang near totaled 3 different times. Luckily for them their Dad owned a body shop. Russ fixed that car a 3rd time and then about 2 months later it got stolen. They got it back a year later gutted and wrecked again. Finally he sold the hull and picked up a low mile one last year to replace it.
These do look decent I just never really liked them. Everyone had one and thought it was fast when I was in high school. Now, I might drive a TPI manual one.
Just be glad yours doesn't have cross fire. You're already ahead of the curve. HahaRyan

That's one thing I was worried about ,if it had Crossfire or not .I was thankful when I poped the hood and seen a carburetor.Seth

No, I think you're correct on that. I believe the pick ups had that too. The cross fire had 2 throttle bodies diagonally on the intake manifold kind of like the old DZ302 cross ram. But those old ones worked better. HahaRyan
