    1941 Plymouth

Not looking to buy but you know how it goes. I've never seen one of these, what do you think of it? It's on Facebook swap in Brandon SD for $2250 with a good title. It looks pretty good in the pics. Seriously, not looking to buy, just wondering.

Looks like keeper for the price. From that picture the only thing I see missing is the drivers windshield wiper arm and all of those trim pieces would be hard to come by. I could see that with a Dakota front clip and a 4.7 engine trans combo.

I think you and I were thinking the exact same thing. Heres the rest of the pics. I wish I was looking for another project.

Boy I'm glad I'm not looking for a project right now. That has tons of potential provided the floors and frame have survived.

A couple of options come to mind ........go the route Falcon is doing on the A100 ".......Plans are pretty minimal for this one; leave it stock, get it mechanically right, and drive it while I do some bodywork on it......."
    (sorry couldn't help myself )

Seriously though even if the engine is trashed, decent flat head 6 Chrysler engines are still out there. I'd leave the exterior just the way it is (maybe because of the year and color put a big white star on each door and try to fade the white paint to match the rest of the paint.

Second option would be a put in a late model suspension and 3rd Gen Hemi, trans and rear end. Then consider shiny paint re chrome etc,

There's a guy over on one of the Mopar sites that did one of these on Dakota (?) frame that didn't turn out too bad .......he went with an old stock car theme. I might explore that option too.

If you keep it stock and could get it running you might be able to make a couple of bucks on it when you flip it. If you fall in love with it, it could turn into a money pit pretty quickly. Just sayin.

You ain't got a hair on your butt Seth if you don't get that to fill space in your remodel garagemanse.........................

Many moons ago I had a '41 Plymouth................a pickup. Bought it in Spokane from a young man whose original owner grandfather had gifted it to him. After rebuilding the engine it was a pleasure to drive........................rode like a truck though.

I would go with modified option #2...late model Hemi, modern drive train, update suspension & brakes, bag it on some Detroit 18 or 20" steelies and leave the body/paint as is...that would be cool!

I suggested the Dakota front clip and 4.7 because of the success I've had with my 04. the 4.7 I have runs like a scalded dog and if I'm not careful at a stop it'll break the rear end loose in a heartbeat.I think the hemi idea is great, just more expensive. The only drawback to the Dakota front clip is the 6 lug wheels but I believe that can be fixed with earlier spindles. For wheels I'd take the centers stock steelies, 16" I think, and mate them with later model 7" or 8" wheels.

The '87-91 Dakotas have 5x4.5 bolt pattern and the rotors will interchange with the 6 lug ones up through '96 I think. There is aftermarket support for bigger rotors, etc on the Dakota spindles, too, I think.

As for wheels, I'd definitely go bigger than 16....more like 18x8" front, 20x10" rear. With the original rustic paint, some Detroit Steel artillery wheels would look pretty sweet....yeah, I know some of you don't like the bigger rims....LOL!! But I do!!

I would do it like Randy is thinking too. Leave that body alone and you have what you were wanting to build any way Seth. A nice cruiser with a decent body you don't have to paint. Plus, it isn't a common car and it would stand out.

Okay guys, don't lighten up now, we'll get him.................

The jumbo wheel and tire thing isn't in my wheel house for this kind of car, but whatever. Just to add some motivation to get Seth over the hill, here's a pick of the '39 Ford I had a few years ago. The upholstery was like new for comfort, and the mechanicals were all sorted, the outside...........well, I did cave and ran a buffer over the old lacquer lightly. The old girl had plenty of personality (yeah, there's a blind date joke buried in there somewhere).

I don't know what he's waiting for. He has plenty of nice work space now. He could just gt that old engine running and drive it the way it is.

It's crazy how much early Fords are going for. I know a guy that paid $8k for a 40 standard fordor a few weeks ago. He wasn't too proud of admitting the purchase price and wouldn't let me snap a pic of it. I told him who cares. It's your cash, you are the one that wanted one and now you have it.

What I was getting at is, that Plymouth is a steal.

Yeah, and that $250 part of the ask screams he'd take 2k in a heartbeat. With some work maybe even less........................not much more than beer money.............
