1978 Camaro
Christian and stumbled across this Camaro that a guy wanted to sell where we were picking up some tractor tires. No motor or trans, new rims and tires and looked pretty good on the outside. The problem was the car was like swiss cheese everywhere else. It needed floor pans bad, the inner quarters were bad and behind the rear bumper was gone as well. It was even rusted through on part of the roof by the T Top. I could get it for $800 but it would have been Christians money and his project. I'm glad he's less of an impulse buyer than I am, he looked it over and thought it would be better to pay more for a more solid one. He also realized he would not have the cash flow to do much to it for a long time. I'm glad he has some reasoning skills in his mind. I also told him if he likes the 82 Z28, his money would go a lot further with that car.Seth

It's probably a really good thing for me he didn't get the camaro bug last year then. It's too bad that car is so rusty. Someone must have painted it at some time and doe a good cover up job.Ryan

Yep, after looking at all the rust on that 78, I thought maybe I should have kept the 71. But in all reality, it still takes money. At least that's what I've seen from your build on it . Financially, I think it's better that I don't have it at my place right now.Last edited by 53 Chevy5; 01-16-2019 at 06:44 PM.

Well, Since you brought it up, I have this guy coming to my place pretty quick. I have a long driveway and it has really deteriorated a lot since I got rid of the old G that I used to put the box scraper. I've been snooping around for a cheap replacement with power steering and live hydraulics to pull the box scraper and this showed up at our local tractor salvage yard. It's been sitting or 15 yrs in a storage here in town and the owner lost interest in it. Doesn't really need anything but a new exhaust manifold and rear rims and tires. I had to give $1175 with rear replacement rims and tires, I thought that was fair. The paint job isn't nearly as good as it looks in the pics but the little 50 should fit the job nicely.Seth

$1175 seem to be a good price About 20 years ago I bought a 8N for 2k it had a bucket on it but wasn't any good. Got rid of that and got back blade and bush hog 2k for hole thing. I use it for cutting 5 acers grass and keeping drive (1/4 mile)graded. It also helps push and pull non running items from the shop.Charlie

Did you give them your mask too? I think you stole it at that price especially with the replacement rear wheels and tires. That's probably $600 worth right there.Ryan

I was looking at a 601, which is kind of like a modern a 8N with a 10 speed powershift. I asked my brother if I dare buy that tractor and he recommended I did not. The old Ford 10 speed powershift parts are getting extremely hard to find. Some of the normal wear items like the shift cables are Obsolete and nobody makes them. There's such a goofy made cable that is not something you can have made locally either. That 601 would have been handy for me size-wise and with the powershift but I'd rather have something I can still get parts for.Seth

He really didn't care about the tires that were on the rims, they're weathered to enough that they would have never made it alive being taken off. He said he gets a hundred and seventy-five a piece for the rims so I bought one and he threw the other one in on the deal. I think he was just happy somebody bought the whole tractor because it was too nice to tear down, and 80% of the tractor would have to scrap anyway cuz there's really not that much sellable stuff on them anymore.Seth
