Anyone From Arizona?
How friendly is Arizona to street rods? I'm going to be moving to the Phoenix area sometime in the next year and am wondering if I should bring my '36 pickup or sell it. I found on the azdot website that there is a street rod plate. It says an inspection might be required. What kind of inspection? Are there any mileage or use restrictions with the street rod plates? Any pitfalls I need to consider?

Hi, and welcome. I'm in southern AZ but can't be much help. Phoenix and Tucson are the 2 places in the state that require emissions testing and I'm not sure what those requirement are but based on year (if it's titled as a 36) you should be good to go with even a regular plate.

Lived in Phoenix (Maricopa County) from 1973 to 2011. Built many cars and could drive anything '66 or earlier without emission testing.

Don't sell your Hot Rod.
Lots going on in the state, some of the best runs out there, big and small.
Plus not a big deal to slip over to California for a quickie run.
You are going to like it a bunch.

Welcome Al! Keep the car and enjoy Arizona, lots of really great Hot Rod and racing action still going on in Arizona! I've got lots of friends who do the "snowbird" thing in Arizona in the winter and they all come back here (South Dakota) with glowing reports of all the good times! By the way, hang around CHR, lots of good old Hot Rodders on here who will enjoy hearing about your new adventures in Arizona!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

You're just hitting all the old ones today! LOL..
Before you reply check the date in the top left above the avatar.. that will be the last time anyone replied to that thread. It's not a problem for the most part. But the older threads might not have those users / members around any more.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been busy moving cross country and moving in. We left Virginia in late March just as things were shutting down. Had a rather uneventful trip in the RV to Arizona. Got here on April 3 and closed on a house in Surprise on April 24. Been busy since then getting moved in and settled.
I did ship the 36 truck out here. I've taken it for a couple of early morning drives trying to avoid the worst of the heat. I'm looking forward to more events in the fall.
Thank you Roger. .
