A restoration for a great cause
Saturday June 20th was a very special day. We revealed the 1969 Firebird that myself and many others have been restoring since last November.
The man in the first video is named Harry. He has owned this car since the mid 80s. I never met this man until today but I heard about all of his hardships from his friends and how none of them never changed his friendly and upbeat attitude he had every day. His friends and the car community decided it was time to do something nice for him.
Spear headed by Steve Allison, the ball started rolling in a big way to get this car done before Harry's birthday. Many people stepped forward, most not even knowing Harry, and opened up their wallets, lent a had, donated material and so on to get this thing done.
The car has a rebuilt Pontiac 400, TH 350 trans, 8.2 10 bolt stuffed with 3.36 posi, interior, and Verdoro green paint.
We put on a car show and Harry thought he was coming to judge Pontiacs. He was also told that he was going to be pulling his car from an outbuilding, where it had been stored on Steve's property, up to the shop to start working on it. After the awards were handed out they sat him down and gave him a cake and sang happy birthday. He then received the show board seen in the pics. Upon seeing that he started to connect the dots and as Steve talked about all of the donors and helpers, a few of us pushed the car out of the paint booth and under a canopy behind Harry.
He was instructed to turn and look at which point he pretty much locked up from shock. Harry was overwhelmed with emotion. He had to be told to go look at it. Once it sank in he made his way over and started looking at the car.
It was a great day and it was awesome to see so many people come together to help a total stranger realize a dream. I'm proud to have been part of it and I thank everyone who made this happen. There is still good in the world.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 06-23-2020 at 06:52 PM.

She turned out really nice. Steve decided we would put the car in the paint booth and roll it out under a canopy right after Steve started reading the show board.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 06-23-2020 at 06:48 PM.

Harry is the man wearing the black Foose shirt and black and gray beard. He was very excited and really surprised! He said he hasn't driven the car since 1986. I'll get the videos up as soon as I can get them attached on here.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 06-23-2020 at 06:50 PM.

Community.
You've reinforced my faith in human nature.
We hear all the time about the evil that is done in the world; but when a community bands together to do good, too often it's overlooked.
Be proud of yourself.
I am proud of/for you.
