Ken Thurm - GNRS Contender 2024
Friend Ken Thurm and his sidekick Tina got their latest build ready in time for the Pomona GNRS, and it's a Contender for the trophy! I asked Ken if it was OK to post pictures on CHR and he quickly said, "Sure!" Here's a few pictures that Ken posted on Facebook, for those who don't play in that venue. Congrats Ken on being a contender, and hoping that your build rises to the top to get your name on that massive trophy!! The last photo is the jacket Ken got, modeled by his Grandson!! Tina detailed the grille and Moon tank, too! GO Tina!!Last edited by rspears; 02-04-2024 at 11:30 AM.

So the contenders for AMBR 2024 are seven ‘32 Fords, one ‘32 Chevy, and a ‘34 Ford. Here's a link to the 9 contenders. If you scroll down to the preview panes and open one you can scroll through each car and it's features. Ken's is the last one in the array - https://inthegaragemedia.com/2024-gr...r-competition/Roger

Is that even really a roadster?

To the question, "Is a Phaeton a Roadster?" this popped up from the GNRS -
A phaeton is a term that has caused some debate among hot rodders. However, according to the Grand National Roadster Show, phaetons are indeed considered roadsters and are eligible for the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award. Historically, a phaeton is defined as a four-door roadster with a folding top and non-fixed windshield. So, while there may be variations in interpretation, in the context of hot rods and classic cars, a phaeton is indeed a type of roadster.Roger

Yeppers on the Tub!
The thing is, if the GNRS defined their quest for AMBR as being designed and built by the Owner there would have only been ONE Contender - Ken Thurm!Roger

Of course I knew the answer before I even posed the question. I also think that they arrived with the wrong answer LOL. Ken does/did a wonderful job as always of course. And just like racing anything- he with the biggest wallet will usually prevail.
