Yup, and the worse part is I just sold my shop about 1 1/2 years ago....I was going to retire. Then the clowns who were building the bodies scammed us out of a bunch of money and delivered some less then good quality cars so we ended up with the whole deal, including the molds. Anyway, the whole deal is a negative $60K and about 3 years time so far....I sure do hope we can get it turned around!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bluestang, me too. I don't like not being able to just jump in the car and go.
Thanks for the info DennyW, it is squirting right away now so that is good. I will be checking TDC tonight to see where the mark is. Is it possible I have the wrong balancer on there?
Nice looking hood Dave, are you going to do that with the ones you sell also? I love that Merc myself.

I think so. I like it better aesthetically, and structurally it really adds a lot of strength to the front of the car. On the next one, it's getting big power and a blower, so a tilt front end will be on the build sheet. The extra strength in the front clip will really be imortant there. The smaller and lighter hood makes hinging and latching from the front, back, or either side a lot easier and of course more options never hurt anything. Today I got the package shelf and some reinforcement put in the back of the car. It's hopefully going to be a driver soon, and will probably stay in primer (with a couple light coats of clear over the primer) for awhile until I can start reworking the molds to cover all the mods on the body..... Great job security for a retired guy, huh???

Dave, I am sure you have said in an earlier thread or maybe even this one, but I was wondering what chasis you are using under the Mercs.

This one has a Crown Victoria chassis, the other 2 we have left are on my own frames (pics in my gallery), one is a coilover, the other is an air ride....

Not being very familar with glass body work, I am thinking the race body is lighter? Good looking car, I would love to build one for the wife to drive, how hammered is the top? 3 inches? Very cool Dave, your going to have a real sweetheart when she's done.

The race body is much lighter. Not steel supports in the door jams or doors, none on the sides or truck. Just glass that will be attached to the cage and frame. Can't do it this way on the street, the vibration and pot holes would kill it.

On the street cars, 3" chop, reworked fenderwells, reworked back window, and numerous other small changes... I have lots of work to do on the molds as well as the other 2 cars then maybe I can start on the race weight body.... Giving some thought to buyin some Kevlar matte to use on the front clip, makes it much stronger and would cut down on the amount of bracing required.... Just very expensive to buy the kevlar!!!!!

Could be. There are actually 3 different timing locations for small block Chevys, 12:00, 2:00 and 2:30. Scroll down this list to the SBC and take a look......

I'm actually getting some work done on the truck lately. I'm working on the headers right now. I need to get the exhaust pipes done before I finish the fuel lines and mount the filter. Then I can bolt on the radiator and light a fire in this new engine.

Thanks Tech, I will check that out tomorrow. It looks to me that my late 70's 350 could be 12:00 or 2:00. I'm not sure which way to read it. There are several of that era in there. If it's twelve I have the wrong water pump (short) to be able to look through to see the mark with the light.
