Man, just can't sleep tonight. Tired of tossing and turning. ProZ, I may be way ahead of you on this one but I think yours is tab bit higher quality than what I'm throwing together right now. That's an awesome looking engine, how soon before the maiden voyage?

Friend of mine just got a re-pop quarter for his Chevy II----the body line on the side is off about 1/2"!!!!! Going to be a very fun install, think I got volunteered to help!!!!!!!

I guess for the price of the re-pops a guy can't really expect perfection!!!! Sure beats the heck out of having to go find a usable one at the junkyard and cut it off!!!!

That's a good question. Depends how busy I get in the sign shop. Too busy & the "Z" work stops. Too slow & the "Z" parts buying stops.

Dave true and with no Diemakers around them they will get worn even more . Character lines on side had to much radius had to work them also to match up with door . Full 1/4s are supposed to make the job easier LOL we wish . If we found a nos , price would be so outrageous not worth it for a non show car.

Got it close enough for primer. Time to mount it so I can locate the steering column & install gages. What does everybody run for gages? This is going to be a pro street. Even though it will be limited I still plan to make it street legal sorta'. So I'll need the usual Tack (shift Light), Speedometer, Gas, Oil(electric no oil lines in car), Battery, Temp. Anything else? My guess is anything else can be checked on a data recorder when racing? Maybe trans. temp would be handy??

BTW: Notice I got the windshield wiper sockets back in. I flipped them upside down so the linkage will clear the intercooler duct. Now I just need to find a small simple wiper motor to operate it. Maybe there's such an animal for street rods?

Oh ya Pro, speedway and So Cal both sell small wiper motors of all different configurations. Looking like the regular ol street car there with wipers!! I know the visous circle too, either not enough time because of work or not enough money becuase of work but the hotrods are always the first to get whatever is happening it seems.
I finally got the ol' El Camino going and it runs good. Too wet here today to work on it but a little timing and carb adjusting and it will run very good.

Hard to go wrong with Autometer on gauges. Lots of different styles and price ranges. I always use the 2 5/8" gauges, they'll tell ya everything you need to know with just a glance. I also like to run the oil pressure warning light and usually mount it near the tach where I'm going to be looking when I make a pass.....

Thanks for the info. Brick & Dave. Seems everybody I've asked so far says "Autometer". Sounds like the way to go.

We used those Equuis (By Sun) in the Duster and they come with a big varity of lighting and faces. They seem to be working great. I used TCI gauges in my street rod but they are more of a nostalgia look then you would want probably.

For pro70z28's kind of car - Autometer gauges look 'right'.

For a '30's street rod, VDO, S-W or Classic are hard to beat tho there are several other good mfrs

Autometer is now making some Nostalgic gauges that look good even for old cars. I agree with IC2 the Race inspired gauges they make would be the way to go for your style of car, IMO.

I think I'm going to go with the Autometer Ultra-Lite gauges. That is about the only line that has a complete set with the features I'm looking for. Thanks for the replies.
