Well I have managed to tear down the 54 Plydo and the body is ready to come off. Right now I'm looking for a junkyard MII (got a line on a Cougar xr-7 chassis mebe I'll cut that up for my front clip) to go with the Ferd 9"w/Disc and 302 I already have. Or I'll go GM if the SBC a buddy owes me turns out to be a screamer. I have put some bracing in the cab to start doing the floors, but will wait to start the actual flooring after the chassis mods. In the meantime I will start smoothing out the dash. Long process and lots of patience working with no budget. But in the past year I have aquired a 302, 9"(w/factory disc) an SBC, a camaro clip, a 10 bolt posi, and lots of other little bits and bobs fer a grand total of about $700 bucks. So the options are finally there now I gotta make it happen. Got lots of ideas over the weekend at Paso Robles this year, what a blast.Justin RFFR

79 Lincoln...minor bodywork and repaint. Came off the road last july...and still sittin in the garage in pieces. Now working midnights steady, so my 'day off' is 10pm to 6 am. Have yet to spend a 'day off' in the garage!
84 Camaro...about to start the motor on this one. Hope to get to Summit in the next 10 days and go from there. Bought a 20 ton press at Carlisle so we can do the suspension work. Time...I work weeknds, Steve, the owner, works week days. Perhaps we need to coordinate some vacation!
New Project...90 Jeep Wrangler. Needs little - front ujoints and driveshaft, 4 tires and an engine. That part is easy - it was converted to a Chevy 305, and a nice one (if you can say that about the 305) is sitting in the above 84 Camaro, an 11k autozone motor. Nothing impressive, but it is free. Since this is the wife's new toy, I think I will have time and money to finish it!
House projects...need vacation time to do them!Chris

A lot of nice projects going on here, I am new to the board and am not rally building a car, I bought an old race car, a 77 Vega with a 355, Turbo 350 and 12 bolt rear and am in the process of putting it back on the street. So far I have fixed all the bad spots on the body most were on the bottom of rockers and underneath the car, I have one door bottom inside to do that I just discovered , I have all the lights working, put wipers back on and working, put horn on an rewired it, took out the racing seats and have new buckets allmost installed, recarpeted the back, realigned the hatch so it doesn't rattle and various other odds and ends. I am waiting on a Holly 770 Street Avenger with electric choke to replace the no choke super rich hog now on motor, getting ready to redo original hood with L88 style scoop after finding a set of hood hinges, 90% of the ones I found had hinges welded on, whats up with that? I'm going to have to take the race mufflers off and I'm looking for a set of radial street slicks as I can't hammer this thing now and keep it in one county!! I'm sure as time goes on I'll find other things to fix, like a rear suspension with zero down travel on the shocks and maybe a little less than 3500 stall on the converter and a speedometer that doesn't read 80mph at 45mph and on and on but I'm too old to dance and it's too windy to throw rocks, humm, maybe A/C JakeJake

Hey - I found some seats today...they are out of a 99-ish Chevy Silverado...they're really cool, they have the seat belt built into the seat, instead of having to attach it to the cab of the truck.
We have a 99 Sierra truck that we drive everyday, and love the seats in it.
So we figured, what the heck, they will fit in the Stude, and we like how comfortable they are, so we just found another set...
That's one more thing off our list...now onto wheels...

Your building a car Justin24117, and that has an end result that with diligent work sooner or later it's done and fun. At least thats the way I see it.
Thats alot of projects Screamer63, there is no way I can do more then two at a time, but then again I just purchased a '68 Barracuda so here I go. Keep us informed.
1980isc, that sounds like a car I would like to ride in! I love pro-street cars, especially if they can back it up! Got any pics?
HotRodAngel those sound like good looking seats. Did they bust you an arm and a leg? They'll make the ol' Studdy shine.

I didn't want to compromise my comfort on a long haul, so I wanted to get some nice seats to begin with!

Taking notes and planning my strategy on redoing the Charger. I promised myself it would be a 4 year project hoping to complete in 3.
The car looks nice and is driveable, which I do. I plan on pulling the engine this winter and giving it an overhaul and block repaint. I don't like the cam the previous owner installed (very heavy and rough idling) I think I'll put a milder cam in it for smoother performance. I plan on replacing the hoses and cleaning and repainting brackets and parts. Also, sand down and repaint the engine compartment. None of the gauges work so that'll also be inspected (I hate doing electrical, car and home.) Will also, put in a new valve body and exhaust (the exhaust I plan on doing soon.)
Still haven't gotten the headlights to rotate, need to do that very soon for evening cruising. I thought they were vacuum powered, not the case. I guess once I get them to over I'll keep them that way till I get the mechanics and electrical figured out.
Just put on a set of Magnum 500 rims and new tires. Looks 100 times better than the goofy set that was on it before.
I'll attach a pic soon"Now bring me those cheese sandwich appetizers you talked me out of."

There's not much progress on my Roadster or the 40 pickup but I have been working on my 88 Chevy Caprice.
It was an IRS car that has the police package. The body and interior are like new but the cop engine was missing when I got it.
I wanted a 350 but the two blocks that I found were junk so I rebuilt a 305 in my kitchen last year and when the snow melted I put it in. It was computerized and they only had carburetors on the police engines that year the rest all had EFI. Well It wouldn't start after I hooked everything up. I gave up after a few days. I didn't get a title with it and couldn't register last year anyway. Now that it's more than 15 years old I don't need the title in Maine.
Last month I unhooked all the computer wireing and pulled out the distributor. I replaced it with an older one that has a vacum advance and it started on the first try and sounded great. I don't know how the carburetor will work without the computer wires attached but it seems to have plenty of power. The 88 exhaust manifolds didn't fit because the dipstick was in a different location. After switching the manifolds the exhaust wouldn't bolt up. It had two hole flanges and the manifolds had three studs. I cut the pipes, changed the flanges and rewelded them. I expect to have it registered by the end of the week if it stops raining.I still have to put the muffler back on it.
I hate driving the Ford Aerostar as a daily driver. I can't pass anything with that. The 305 has an Edelbrock Performer cam and intake so It should be a good driver. It still has cop tires, cop shocks and cop suspension so whaddya think? Is it the new Bluesmobile?" Im gone'

Just out of curiosity, where did you happen to find the set for $200.00? I have been looking for a set of those exact seats for my Cameo; but, everything I've found has been pretty pricy. By the way, are they the 60/40 6 way adjustable power seats with the lumbar support? I'd definitely give $200 for a set, I have a '99 Chevy pickup with 'em and I love those seats. In fact, I have even thought about robbing them out my '99 and sticking them in my Cameo.
Cheers,

They aren't power, but they do have the manual lumbar support. The seats we have in our 99 GMC are the same thing as these, and we really like them. These are bucket seats w/ a console.
We decided to not look for power seats, since they are more expensive...my husband & I are about the same height, so we don't do much seat adjusting anyway!
Hope that helps. You might even be able to track some down at the junk yard, too...who knows?

Well.....let's see where to start, ok- painted the dash in the 67 Cuda convertiable, so it's ready to go back in, and I need to put the new top on it next to complete it.
Pulled the nailhead & tranny out of the 67 Rivera and traded it for some stuff to go in the Delivery- still need to get a 42" rear made up for it, I won't get to that this month.
Got the Silverado stripped down & the bed off for her paint, need to get it in sealer today.
The 70 Firechicken is mocked up & I need to re-drill the fenders for the flairs where I replaced the metal damage, then I can shoot the jambs & firewall & window tracks, I might get it down off the dollie's by July 4th
The 64 ChevyII still needs a lot of metal work- but I did get it up on the K-5 frame & hook-ed up.
I still have a waiting list of 7 to build for customers, and I 'm thinking of breaking ground on the lower end of the property to build a shop for my wife- she wants me to teach her how to do interior work.
I still work a full time job so I can only work on my rods in the evenings, and week-ends.Jim

Studebaker Re-Wiring
I Started my re-wiring project last week-end. The wiring in the car worked, but it did not work well. Usually dropped down to 10 volts at stoplights and barely held 12 going down the highway with A/C and lights on. I am using a lot of the kits and designs at Madelectrical.com. So far I have put a remote starting solenoid back in the trunk near the battery, this removes power from the heavy 1/0 wire to the starter except during starting. I have run a dedicated 8 gauge wire back there to the battery for charging and power to the rest of the circuits. I have set up two power distribution stations, one near the firewall and one on the radiator core support. I rewired the Alternator to send power to the firewall distribution point and also have the sensing wire going there so it measures the load where power is being used. My fuse panel was out on the firewall and I am moving it inside under the dash where I am fabricating a hinged panel to hold it that will drop down for access and fold up out of site the rest of the time. I found a really slick fuse panel at www.centech.com. Very compact and it uses lugs like a house panel insted of crimped on terminals. Still to do is set up a panel inside my left front fenderwell to hold the front power distribution point and a number of relays to power my electric fans and headlights. I plan to use a metal first aid kit box to house these and keep them out of the elements. This will take a lot of load off the fuse box and ignition switch. The added benefit of all this is I have found a number of dead wires that I have removed and it is really cleaning up the wiring in my engine compartment.
Right now I am just praying that everything will work when I flip my battery master switch! Speaking of which I also changed the master battery switch from the positive cable to the negative. I hope to have this all done by Friday the 11th so I can make it to our local Hot Rod Jamboree. Been working on it every hour when I am not working, eating or sleeping. Neat thing about this project is I will have have less than $300 in it when I am done.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
