Profits? On a home built car My build budget was $$, but what I spent was $$$$$ + $$ more

While I may be ahead of some, behind others, I did make some major milestones with my car in the past couple of weeks (mostly the past 3-4 days). I got the wiring done, the stereo in, the cowl cover on, the windshield in place, the SS cowl band on and the parking lights to be mounted on the cowl today. The seat belts need to be installed then the seats bolted down - maybe today or tomorrow It has run, but not recently, so that might be interesting since I've had the distributor out and the carb off since it ran.

It's been a couple months or so, but I got a little "Z" time in today. I made a 1/2" mock up plate to go under the mock up carb. that sits atop the mock up engine. The intake tube is a very tight fit from the firewall to the carb hat so I thought it might be a good idea before I do any welding, to have a 1/2" space between the carb & intake. That'll give me a little extra room for gaskets, maybe a plate to mount stuff on or a place to tap into the intake or whatever else might pop up in the future. Once I get the intake tubes welded in place it'll be time to start on the firewall sheet metal...finally.

u must b even MORE fat in the hot rod budget than me, i have NEVER been able to bring myself to use soft/braided lines for ANYTHING on my hot rods, hard lines all the way all the time, cheaper and last a lot longer IMHO

More recent pics of the Bmer

BTW, a few more current pics of the Bmer. apart right now, goin back w/ the TH400 and going to girdle the main web and lifter valley on the 464, the GOLD and Black engine. The black engine is the same engine back when i 1st BUILT it fresh off the dyno at Finish Line Motorsports in Freeport Michigan, the intake and valve covers and carb on the engine in THAT pic are not mine but those of the son in law of the owner, he agreed to dyno and then refreshin the engine afterward to see what if diff my porting techniques made VS his....his turned out to make MORE power on basically the same engine, in fact a wee bit smaller, 461 while mine is 464. The way it looks mocked up is how its always been in the car with MY top side on it since the car is black trimed in gold.
In the most middle pic u see the bell clutch press plate etc and jus a glimpse of the tremec TKO600 i put in the car briefly, still new in the box before installation, as well as the Stage 1 headers i bought for the car after the demise of the 535" Stage 2 when i put the 464 BACK in the car, that pic is durin that conversion...Note its name sake etyched snarling in the window in the last shot.

What size & what material. I could cut them out, there would be a fair amount of sanding to get all the machine marks cleaned up. But, it can be done.

Hi Brian - I just came up out of the shop for lunch from finishing up the installation of the cowl mounted parking lights and reinstalling the upholstery. The seats go in this week along with the 4 point belts. The hood top needs refitting the following week (not using the side panels now), then it's just a few clean up items like move the over flow tank, rewire the fan and mount the stereo in the trunk (it's wired and works, just no enclosure yet). I hope to register it in late Feb., weather permitting - then I can drive it this summer.

As far as Don Shillady - every once in a while he rears his head. He has said that he has some respiratory problems that keep him out of his garage much of the winter plus I think he's writing another book.

Maybe a book like "Hot rods for Dummies" would be a best seller. No joke, the "---- for Dummies " series are actually quite good, a talented Knowledgeable writer could do quite well with this one!

Pro, that emblem almost exactly is available from TA Perfomance of Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ
u may have to have the 455 as a seperate part tho....look at the 455 on the cowl on my car and the V8 emblem on the lower front fender.
These are not the actuals i speak of from TA, but i use those to example what u can get from them.
Believe it or not the emblems all around my car( there is GSX below the BMW emblem on the nose of the hood, as well as on the right side of the deck lid lip, 455 on both sides of the cowl and the V8 emblems on the fender, also note the chrome brake vents on the rear quarter just fore of the wheel wells.) are el-cheapo Chrome plated Auto Zone Plastic stick ons. all i did was buff out with polishing compound the cars original paint, then placed the stick ons, faceing the door gaurds , and all the stick ons in metalic Gold, as well as the stock rear spoiler. That Done i then applied 2 acrylic clear coats to the car, wet sanding between coats to blend minor runs. I ended up with a reconizable graphics scheme on probally the last thing u would expect to see it on but not look at all out of place. BTW, the clear coats ? masked the car off as carefully as i could; caught a nice early summer day;used a window fan and the dehumidifier; shot the car with Rusto-leum rattle cans. effectively i added graphics and painted the car, repaired the single rust spot at the rocker seam all for the price of 6 rattle cans, a small tin of fiberglass repair and some carefull work at auto zone prices, where i bought all materials. some of the last pics r in 2005 some in 2009.

    Here it is Brick.

All plastic but it's to scale so I can get the plumbing lined up & welded. I may order the pop off valves (that go in the tube by the valve cover) before I weld that one. They will be a tight fit so I better have them in hand before I get too much further along.
