Sounds good Dave.
Last week worked on the front fender lower. Seems the old lower was cracked along a 6 inch line from the bottom rolled edge up. When I tried to remove the rusted bolts holding it on to the upper front bumper, a bunch of bond cracked off revieling the extend of the damage. I knew it was in need of repair or replacement but had no idea how bad it was, Took a couple of hours to cut the old rusted bolts and nuts off, without causing to much problems with the upper. Also got the passenger side running board off. Ate a lot of rust doing it!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

A bit of metal in your diet is good for you!!!! Working with rusted pieces and rusted out hardware is never any fun, but once it's done the new stuff always looks so much better when it goes together!!!!
Going to get Mike's Buick done and gone about Wednesday! Plans are to get my pickup back in the garage and repair the area's some ignorant little so-and-so saw fit to vandalize, do some repaint and finally get the rest of the little things done.... I got the dummy spots on the Buick, really looks like a 60's car now!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave I'm iron rich in the diet dept.! Guess I don't need to worry about anemea! Everytime I replace a bolt, the new ones are grade 8's and get a light paint cout for protection, not that this truck will ever live for any amount of time outside the garage! But feels good hacking off old stuff and fixing it for the long haul!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

There! Just got Mike's Buick loaded up and gone back to his house for the winter. My pickup will be coming in (hopefully tomorrow) to get it finished up and a For Sale sign in it! Going to help my pal Craig on his pickup tomorrow, we plan on getting the front sheetmetal all bolted together and put on the stand then go to work on boxing the frame and building some suspension for it!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well, didn't get all the things done in the garage I wanted to get done yesterday...Going to get them finished up today and then move the pickup inside! Got primer put on some shelves I made about two years ago, fixed a ceiling light that had a bad ballast for the last year or so, and some other odds and ends! Can only put routine maintenance stuff off for so long, then sometimes just have to take a day off from Hot Rodding and get them done!!!! Today I'll finish putting things back where they belong and get the place ready for a fun winter of fabrication time!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Funny around here it's the complete opossite! I admire your drive Dave. It seems 90% free time goes into maintenance of the house, etc..., and the hot rod has to fit the 10% !" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Yep! I often ask guys who are still doing the 8-5 gig, "Do you like your Saturday's?" Of course they say, "I love my Saturday's!! I can do whatever I want on Saturday! It's my day." That is the key for the bombshell, "Well, for me every day is Saturday!" That's the benefit of having walked away from the 8-5 routine, and joining the ranks of the "Retired!"Roger

retired : no job, no boss, no money.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Steve,
I know what you mean about house work taking up too much time, 100º/º to 0º/º hot rod in my case BTW, saw some Petaluma flooding pics, hope you are high and dry. I used to live about 1/2 mile from Santa Rosa creek years ago and was wondering what you have heard about that.

For some reason the full timers get a little testy when I use that phrase.
Retired for almost two ears now, but I still work at the same place (up to 960 hours per year) for my hotrod money. That works out to about 18 hours per week. I can work 5 days a week or take six months "off" and still have a "job" to go back to. It don't get much better than that.Wes

Jack no flooding here, but lots of water. Been working last few evenings, so I've missed most of the local news about this string of storms giving us some well needed water, a bit faster than we wanted!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.
