Has anybody done repairs on old fuel tanks? I am just wondering what the best way to fix one would be? It's long dried out so welding it wouldn't be a problem, I was just wondering if I could fiberglass over it without it leaking. Any comments Guys?
I was told if I filled the tank with water or with exhuast fumes it would be o.k. So I figured doing both would be even better. I admit I was a little nervous as I started welding, but I'm still here."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Thanks guys, I think I will be able to weld it, it was the original tank that came with the car and it hasn't had fuel in it for decades so I would think the fumes are none existent. I will weld the splits and then cover them with a patch, that should hold it.
Once again, thanks gusy, another $200.00 saved, I keep this up and I may get this thing done yet!

Well the rebuilt engine I put in the bluesmobile has to come back out to replace the oil seal. The last engine I rebuilt only went seven miles. This one never left the yard. I parked it out back for now.
I decided to put some time into the roadster instead. I cut down a 39 Ford dashboard to fit. I disassembled it and sandblasted it. Then I painted it jade green metallic and white. I put it back together and stuffed it into the roadster. It's the ideal hot rod dash. It's got a nice row of louvers down the center where the speaker goes. The radio delete plate was rusty so I sprayed it silver for now but It's coming out later when I put in a radio/cd.
I also restored the banjo style steering wheel and painted it the same green color. I'm using the 39 column too. Now that the dash is in I can cut the column to length and paint it. The original ignition switch/steering lock is still good and I have the key so I'm using it with the remote starter button.
I like the green and I'm going to paint the car this color. I'm just wondering if the red wire wheels will be okay on a green car or will they clash. The engine is red too. Do red and green go together? Other than on a christmas tree stand? Any suggestions on what color I should paint the wheels and engine and maybe repaint the white part of the dashboard?" Im gone'

Red & Green dunno sounds a bit yuk but hard to say without really seeing something like that ya know.
Maybe do the motor in a cast color (grayish) and the dash stripe and wheels something silverish/grayish???Somewhere out on Woordward ave. cruzin!

My vote would be for a darker accent green. Dark green fenders, dark green engine and matching dark green wheels. (Same jade color just 2 or 3 shades darker). w/jade green everything else. Maybe dark green double pinstripe on the body line front to back. Interior upholstery in the darker green."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

I'l wait till it's painted before I decide on the wheels. I might not go with the wire wheels. They looked good when it was going to be a rat rod. I'm useing 56 Ford truck brakes on the front and the 16" wires dont seat right without a spacer." Im gone'

Looking forward to it Monteman, it's going to be a grea show!
Red & Green is great if that is what You like Al show, I love that dash, that works good.
All I can say Jinx is that really sucks, how can a guy parking at a show be so careless!!?? Can't figure that one except for really bad luck! I hope that you can get it going without too much agony.

I think Red Green must be my ex-wife's brother who was kidnapped or wandered off and nobody missed him. She has four brothers that I know of who think and dress just like Red.
I don't want the Red Green Show to be confused with The Al Show. But I have made rocker panels from duct tape.
Jinx, maybe you should change your name to lucky and these things will happen to someone else.
The Monte's lookin good Chuck. My next door neighbor has a cherry 70 Monte that he towed in and the owner didn't think it was worth paying the towing so he let him keep it. He had the tranny rebuilt and has been driving it for more than ten years. I put a fresh paint job on it when he first got it. He only drives it in good weather and it still looks great." Im gone'

Thanks Al, I really enjoy the car, but I got stupid and priced it to a fellow this week and I thought I priced it high but he didn't think so,.....so I may have sold it, cause $15,000 dollars is to much money to turn down...

Well just finished taking everything off the GTO's chassis because i changed my mind about the paint job i had origanaly intended to do so i had to repaint the chassis and cage
Got all the steering/susp/rear end/brakes and everything else off the chassis last weekend and sanded and re sprayed the cage&chassis today. Anyone have any idea how much fun it is for a 6'6" 280lb man to craw around inside a full cage and paint every freakin inch of it while holding a spray gun and air line needless to say i'm a bit sore right now
Gonna spray the clear over it in the morn and hope to have some updated pics to post tommorow night

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
