    Need a Clutch Cable Clamp

I'm modifying a stock mustang clutch cable to fit my undermouted pedals. The pedal end of the cable just has a permanent clamp (or stop), and I want to put some sort of adustable clamp on there, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for.

I found the exact pieces I need on those Lokar U-cut-to-fit rear brake cables. Here is a link to the Lokar catalog.

    http://www.lokar.com/images/pdf/catalog14.pdf

Scroll to page 29 to see what I am talking about.

At the very top there is a cable clamp that appears to be held in place with a couple of allen screws. There is a piece of threaded rod that screws into the clamp for adjustability. Then, a clevis is bolted to the rod.

That's exactly what I need, but I don't want to have to buy the whole kit. Does anyone know where I can find something similar?

    Thanks
    Andy

How about calling Lokar to see if they'll sell just that part(s). I'm sure there have been other people who have lost, destroyed, or broken these parts and needed replacement.

Otherwise, marine supply/repair places work with a lot of cable operated devices and have all sorts of interesting little hardware pieces that might be adaptable.

I just called Lokar. They don't sell individual pieces.

Here' s a link to a company that makes custom cable assemblies. I've also made you a digital picture of the Lokar cables so you can e-mail it to this custom cable outfit....

Maybe these folks can make you what you're needing.

I guess I'm getting a little warmer. I found this kit that has a similiar end clamp like I need.

I found this kit at just about every online VW part site, but I'm just not sure of the quality of it. This is about the best picture I could find. $6 for all that is cheap. It looks like it's made from cast aluminum, and this isn't an area that I want to skimp on.

For a $6 investment, why not order it. If it does not meet your standard, take it to a machine shop and tell them you want one just like this but made out of steel, forged aluminum, billet or what ever material you have confidence in.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

    There's a big difference between $6 and $90.
