Good Buy??
What do you guys think of this....
The asking price is $1,250 firm.
"1953 Dodge Coronet four door. Barn Fresh. I took this out of a barn where it had been sitting for 30 years. The 46,000 miles is correct. I worked on this car the whole winter and put on new fuel pump, had master cylinder resleeved and rebuilt, new wheel cylinder kits, new fuel filter oil and oil filter, new exhaust front to back, new front tires, new brake shoes, points, condenser, cap rotor wires, fixed all the lights. This car runs and drives good. I really think this would be a good car with just a little more work."
"This car runs and drives good. Plenty of power. Door panels are in pretty good shape, dash is nice, seats have covers on them. This car never came with a radio, but I bought one off of ebay, and it will go with the car. The trunk has the original mat in it and it looks good. The windshield is cracked. The car is very solid. Had some rust in the drivers floor, but I welded a plate in and it looks good. There is only one other spot of rust that needs to be taken care of. The rocker panel at drivers side has about a 1 x 3 inch area. Most of the stainless is good except for one or two pieces, which I have seen on ebay from time to time. Bumpers need to be rechromed and car needs to be repainted because this is the original paint. The rear tires need to be replaced. All gauges work except for the gas gauge."
My main concern is the lack of parts availablilty for this car, but then again I am not planning on doing a whole lot to it other than maintanance.

That a pretty good price for one, if its as good as you say it is. I actually test drove one just like that, that I was thinking of buying but decided against it because of the semi-automatic transmission it had.
Dont worry about mechanical parts, there available, youll just have to order them."its better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven."

$1250 is reasonable for a four door. I like the Coronets, especially compared to the other 53 Mopar lines, its the front end I want on my Savoy. There are also other aftermarket and junk yard upgrades you can adapt to the car if you wanted to lower it, add discs, power brakes, etc. So their not as unrecognized in the world of aftermarket parts world as poeple make them out to be.
If you really wanted to get up and go the stroke on these is great for a cam grind and add to that an Edmunds 1x2 intake, w/split exhaust and yer ready to go.
Plus just look at the BBB survey of "most frequented" pics in the gallery, MOPARS, hahahaha.Justin RFFR

I might just be mopar biased though since you never see them on the road. That and I like the fact that almost everyone is sure my car is either a 49 or 50 mercury.

Hey Stevet47
I meant that as there were two idiot kids working there and an older guy who actually knew that a flathead was something other than an old Harley motor. They didnt know anything that wasnt in the computer, let alone know where to order "specialty" parts."its better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven."

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
