Thumbs up Studebaker National Meet 2004

Have been spending the day at the Studebaker Drivers Club's International Meet in Charlotte, NC for the last few days. Awesome show. Full spectrum of Stude's...

Here's a pic of some of the gang at the 'Rehydration Station', a specially stocked watering hole that Rick Courtier put up. His red and white Transtar pickup is on the left. Thanks Rick!

Thanks for the pics Jeff...looks like fun! On the first page of pics, is that a castle or something that your truck is parked in front of? It looks way cool!

    Thumbs up

Those were taken at 'The Biltmore Estate' in Asheville, NC. This is the estate property of George W. Vanderbilt. Quite a tour.

Wow Jeff ! What a place! The gardens sound like they would be fantastic, and I went to the Christmas link, I bet the Biltmore is stunning during the holidays! Thanks for the link!

The conservatory (greenhouse on steroids) is actually on the exit drive out. If it isn't too busy, you can ask the help and they will let you go up to the mansion and take pic's. We went through the gardens area and just stopped and blasted pic's. If the timing had been better for light, etc... It could have been stunning. I had a great time there. It was a concession trip to placate the wife as she came with to the Stude meet. As it turned out, I had as much fun pokin' around the place as she did...

Went to Mooresville Dragway Friday afternoon for some unnoficial test and tune Stude drags...
Nice laid back atmosphere. 1/8th mile format was fun for most of the 40 to 60 year old cars.
Only the supercharged stuff had it a bit hard as they are top end chargers, what with their superchargers...
Here's a pic of a pass between a perdy '54 Coupe and my '37 yellow pos....

    Go Figure...
It was also a good photo-op for your truck!

I guess my husband has got it pretty easy...I usually have all the car show applications filled out & ready to go, and we usually schedule our vacations around the car shows that I want to attend...

Well, to her credit she doesn't like organized anything... Dog shows, horse shows, or car shows. I'd like to run the Power Tour sometime, but I know better than to ask her.

This week she was great, but I could tell she wanted to be somewhere else. All the Stude gang took her under wing and made it fun for her. (We even dressed her up (see pic)
I will say that with a/c, she is a whole lot happier

I'll bet that the A/C made it really nice...I don't handle the heat well myself. Nice Hat!

The hat is a running joke with a friend of mine...
Rick is the guy that owns the '56 Transtar. He 'was' a few months behind me in the build curve, and when we first started to hang out at cruise nights and shows, he invariably came in second compared to the yellow pos. As a joke he started this 'anti yellow' campaign on the alt.autos.studebaker newsgroup and started to Photoshop my yellow truck in pink. I have a straw farm hat painted the same yellow, so Rick did me one better and got a pink one with feathers for the Studebaker Florida state meet. My wife, Carrie, wore it, as it is a high bucks Resistol hat and she is a cowboy bull ridin' fan... So when Rick found out bout that, the rest of the pink wardrobe came out. There's a group of T-shirts, and ad's, and a bunch of Pepto-Bismol pink Coupe Express stuff that always shows up at the Stude shows. People think there's a war going on, and Rick and I set back in our chairs and sip a cold one and laugh....
Having fun is what it's all about....
    Thanks for the note...

Well Jeff, being a PINK fan myself, I think that your little truck just mught be really cool in Pepto-Pink...

I mean, after all, it's not very bright right now, and it doesn't really stand out all that well...(yeah, right)

Just kiddin' Jeff...the Big Bird Yellow is a good color too !
