    1948 Nash 600 and a big block?

Here's the deal, I'm just getting started on my Nash, and before I go and blow money on something that won't fit, I wanted to know if anybody here has tried swapping the Nash inline 6 for a big block, and just how much modification would be needed.

With a torch - Welder - small inventory of steel - wrenches, anything will fit anything. To me that challenge is the fun part of a build project.

hehe Anything is possible with the proper application of a cutting, and a welding torch. I was interested mainly for the sake of clearances around the engine and steering assemblies(though I'm probably going to have to change it anyway).

Actually after talking with the wife she says the budget limits me to a small block(damn), but that's ok as a buddy of mine has an LT1 block(with 9c1 heads) that came out of a cop car for sale that's in running condition with a trans for $450(I'll probably just sell the trans and make my money back).

    Tommy,

Not being a Nash man I am not sure what your Nash looks like or how big a Nash 600 is. One of the guys in our club has a 30-something Nash with a big block in it and it fits just fine. It's also scaryfast. Right now he is crying the blues because he needs to change his leaking radiator and has to pull the front sheetmetal off the car to get the radiator out!

Do you have any pictures you can post for us?

    Pat
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I took a whole bunch of pics for the before. The problam is that they are all HUGE pictures Anyone on dial up might get to see the before pics before I finish turning it into a hot rod. When I get back to the house I'll resize and put up a few pics.

Well I finally shrank the images down a bit. They are still kinda big, but any smaller and the image quality would be obvious

I just threw this page together really quickly to put these pics up, I'll make it nicer later, but for now here it is.

Nice project, I love slantback cars. My car is a slantback too and a 4dr. My interior is pretty nice, at least the seats are, the door panals need replacing and the headliner will cause it's a little torn. My grandparents said they had a '51 Ambasador at 1 time, then they got a '59 Rambler in wich I have 2 of the hubcaps from it.
