    Specialty tools....What's in your garage?

Figured it would be interesting to find out what specialty tools people have in their garages...If nothing else, it will help us create our birthday present lists...

    For me:
    • 30" combination shear, brake and roller.
    • Metal shrinker & stretcher tools. (have about 1" mouth)
    • Hobart Handler 170 welder with gas.
    • Drill Press
    • General assortment of grinders/cutters.
The rest is just the standard assortment.

Hmmmmmmmm! Sometimes hard to know what's "standard assortment" and what's "specialty".

For doing what we like to do here's a few I've got that I think are very useful, and nice to have:

Lincoln 110 mig and auto darkening helmet
80 gal compressor, 24 cfm @ 100psi (volume is most important)
    Laser level
    Protractor gauge with magnetic base
Plasma cutter (once you have one you wonder how you got by without it)
    Boom hoist
    Bead blast cabinet
    Various sized HVLP spray guns
    Porta-Power kit
    Drill press
    Phoenix vacuum bleeder
    Digital VOM
    Assorted engine/transmission stands and carts
    Newly enlarged garage with HEAT!!
Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

I just got my new solvent tank set up last week and have already used it like five times. My other new toy is a 12 ton shop press, bought it a few months ago. I don't know how I ever got by without it. I also have a big old Marquette engine analyzer and a hand-held oscilloscope which comes in handy when working on the newer stuff. Plus the usual drill press and torch and stuff.

    Well...

I have a few tools, nothing really all that special to speak of...

What is amazing though is that no matter how many tools I have it seems that the tool that gets the most use in my garage is a sanding block!!!

Mine is mostly woodworking related tools as I do finish work on furniture and boat wood for a hobby. Ya know, the 20 coats of hand rubbed marine varnish on that teak or oak trim that makes a boat look soooo good!!

But hey,,, now I can can add all those neat tools Brent has in his garage too, right son-in-law.

Assorted Plumb Bob's - None are related to Sponge Bob
    a 9/16" open end
    Assorted electronic testin' stuff
Assorted sanders of various shapes & sizes
Assorted paint guns and air brushes Used to paint murals for Winnebago Conversion van Dept,) and used to have me own Body shop. Got one of dos new gravity feed guns still in the box. Good place to keep it 'til the project is ready to shoot.

    Assorted brake tools
Got this cool old tool to check dist. cap n' stuff for cracks. pugs inta' 110 outlet w/a dial on the back and a probe out the front. Turn the dial up and stick the prob in da cap while sittin' on a metal table and probe will arc to the table thro da crack. I gotta find that thing. Aslo works great for chargn' up condensers. Chargn' condensers??? No more horseplay & I mean it!!!
Assorted hammers from small to serious
Now if yer talkin' woodworkin'...... I gotta stop. I'd like to see Streets List!! I got a feeling it might take awhile to compile da list. HEHEHEHE

    drill press
    120 hobart mig
    oxy/acet set
    horizontal bandsaw
    chop saw
    tubing notcher
    tubing bender

    13 " t.v.
    engine hoist & stand
good selection of grinders & buffers
    assorted micrometers & calipers
    laptop
some carpenter/electrician/plumbing tools- gotta keep wifey happy and I'm to cheap ta pay anybody to do it.
The money makin shop has all the normal auto repair stuff and all the electronic stuff, scanners, dual trace lab scope, gas analyzer, office p.c., Laptop, etc. etc. and this place has been here since 1926 so theres tools back there that I have no idea about, and one shop may have stuff from the other at any given time......
