Yes Bob I have heard of all all those names at the age of 12 I started to collect all the rod mags I could and have all of hot rod from 1949 up tough to get early stuff in CANADA. Also all of honk hop up car craft and 700 other little pages and my choise is to build like the guy in the readers rides because I think we are the back bone of the hobbie and to get put down by some as non deserving dose take a toll . If you ever get a chance to go through some old mags in the 50s you will find some primer cars as features but as time moved on thay had to fit other catigories and by the 60s you did not see the average cars but in the rides section.Keep Kool

Hambiskit,
Your comment of
"...and I was always taught that you don't bring it out till it's ready. Period, and what ever happened to taking pride in what you do?? Has that fallen by the wayside too? ..."
has raised a few important questions:
At pretty much every car show you go to there is usually a class set aside for "Unfinished", are you saying that this class should not exist? Do you not think that the guy who has worked really hard on his ride, and brings it to enter this class should not feel pride in what he has so far accomplished?
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think that no matter the age of the person, financial situation, choice of vehicle or state of build, everyone should take pride in their ride!!!Keep Kool

Ok well I have been hot rodding for 200 years, and i dated Don Garletts sister, and I this and I that,,, ooops is that the recess bell?
They all have their place, but ya know everyone slams on the other and they says they didn't and gets offended.
Park 5 "finished cars" and one ratrod and the rat rod looks trick
Park 5 "Ratrods" and one finished, and the finish looks trick.
Its all opinion, i have no urge to belong to any club ( i joined this forum just to post this) But hey if its ur gig, do it, if you want to spend $$$$ on a glossy paint job and a 671 blower, yet never spin the tires, do it, You wanna primer flames on your moms station wagon and drag race it in the 45 second class, do it. For awile i didn't get the " tuner car " thing, u know the little honda that sounds like a bumble bee on crack? then i saw a kid with a honda del sol pull up to a dyno and turn 500+ hp. Then the kid took me to school. all i saw was pretty, little clear tailights and heard a faint buzz. leason learned, he may have known what he was doing.
"roots" this and "roots" that, who the hell cares, you know it probably went somthing like this, kids took their dads cars and truck and chopped em up for illegal activity, they became the cool kids, other kids said, hey looky there, and did the same but built it for pretty and for cool. walaa Hot Rods.
Just bought a 68' chevy truck with a crap earl schrives paint job, i rronicly looks like suede, cause i needed a truck, hmm i could restore it and not be able to haul stuff,or i could drive a farm truck around, or i could put some $100.00 wheels, heat the springs, and add a set of suede flames with red pinstrip. U guess.
Drive what u want, leave others alone, cause when the green flag drops the bull$&%# stops.

bottomfeeder
hey bottomfeeder i completely agree with you. i am a huge rat rod fan although i prefer to call them HOT RODS anyway i agree with you the REAL hot rods are where it is at. just because it didnt cost 300 grand dont mean its not as good or better. and a side note people who dont drive there car until its finished are wussies i think people dont like rat rods cuz dere scurd of em! i mean id rather have a car that if it got kicked or crashed into at 5-20 mph would only leave a dent instead of a hole. .........probably gonna get yelled at for this one but oh well..........................scooter

Congrats, gasser. You did one entire post before you went back to name calling. At 17 I doubt seriously if you even understand the concept of going fast. Just for my enlightenment, could you relate all of your racing experience??? And by the way, I am not a wuss, and I do not argue with children.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Gasser, respect is earned, not something you are given. The price of respect is experience, honesty, integrity, and tolerance. Respect does not magically appear at any age.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

AAAAhh good. I get to copy and paste from another thread. This was meant for ANOTHER kid but this really kinda' universal don't ya' think.....???
I've explained this before.................
I could explain forever and until you get some years under your belt (say 30 or 40 more) you don't have a clue what I'm talkin' about. And I'm NOT putting you down. That's just the way it is. (that human nature thang again).
If you live long enough ...... someday you'll say ............ Oh yea, now I understand what those old geezerz' were talking about. Until then your just gonna havta' live with that fact that you THINK you know what life is all about.
I gotta take off for a while and get my son's car runnin'. KIDS KIDS KIDS."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

I'm back. Jeff's steering column just came apart. I looked down inside and I see a couple bolts came lose. He said it's been lose for awhile. Then we had a discussion about the finer points of automobile maintenance and a "How to" on staying alive on the road. Kids Kids Kids. He has a job for tomorrow moring now. He tooo needs some more years before he understands. Although I think he WILL keep a closer eye on his car from now on. Lesson learned."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.
