engine swap into Ramber American
Hey....anyone out there with some knowlege on swaping small block chevy's into a 68 Rambler American, or for that matter, any swap info regardless of engine??
I'm picking up a very clean '68 2dr post and have both a stoutly built 327 chevy w/muncie 4spd, and, maybe a little crazy, but also have a Buick 455 w/th400. What did these R/A's have for a rear?
I haven't yet crawled around this car and never owned one....what am I looking to create a pretty strong, and definately unique street car?
Thanks for any advice, links, directions or ???.'55 Chevy 210 2dr

I put a sbc into a Gremlin.
All I done was set in the motor and marked it, then welded mounts onto some flat iron and then onto the frame. Worked good for me.
Rearends I believe are pretty weak. The Gremlin had 2 piece axles, but not sure bout the Rambler. HGIm not real smart, but I can lift heavy things.

HG, Richard & NTFDAY,
Thanks! I'll check those 'swap' sites out--that's a great resource and to enter that search criteria didn't occur to me. I really appreciate the assist.
I'm looking forward to this, even though all I really need is "one more project". But what do they say about the "guy with the most........wins"?
Thanks again and I'll pop back up with more questions if the come out of the site research and after reading your article Richard.

Suddenly I feel old, My first car was a 67 Rambler American I pulled the 6cyl / auto (actually my dad did, I just handed wrenches) we swapped in a 390 with a 4speed, Dual exhaust, chrome reverse wheels. I got so many tickets with that car was soo cool (that was 74) I remeber we changed several rearends they kept breaking... good luck with the R/A

Thanks for the heads-up on the rear gears...I'm learning that the stock set up isn't much for anything close to 300 horses+ so that'll have to be replaced with a 9" likely.'55 Chevy 210 2dr
