flame throwin
Here's one for you members of the senior hot rodding club. How did they use to do the exhaust flames in the early days? Not with some "kit" you buy from autoloc or somewhere like that. I see this in some cruise-in's and parades but never asked how it was done.

I believe that they would put a small engine spark plug into the exhaust and wired it up to a coil that was in turn wired to a switch.
You flick the switch and the S.P. ignites the unburned fuel.
In order to do this you would have to install a 12 or 14 mm bung into the pipe, mount your coil to the frame rail nearest the plug and then wire it to the switch and switch to the battery.
I believe that is how it was done.Any dolt with a Torch and Welder can customize a car.

I wrote up a short treatise on how It was told around the bull sessions when I was a youngster, how to do this. Then I deleted it. In todays world, I am seriously afraid that some idiot would try to do this dangerous stunt, and then blame me for burning his car up. Sorry, folks.

Streets picture 'splains it far better than I could have written it, only the way I learned it had to do with some additional "choke" manipulation just before workin' the switch. I always figured that if the situation was right, and the coordination was off a hair, you could get some rather undesirable results, such as blown up mufflers, or worse. And, I do not believe for even one split second that any disclaimer I would post would hold up in a court in todays world; proll'y about as long as an ice cube on my patio here in 'Vegas on a nice warm summer day.

I dunno I thought that I had pretty much explained it in it's most simplest of terms without using a schematic to go by.
Sure I didn't think of the double throw so flog me for fergittin it. lolAny dolt with a Torch and Welder can customize a car.

You don't gotta run rich all the time. At least I don't think that you do.
You could use a RPM limiter from Jacobsen or some such device to make the engine consume less fuel naturally.
Means more to burn upon exit.
I'm sure that the Acet idea is neat at first but where I live it's 27 to 35 bucks a cylinder and that's trading in your used one.
At least if you manually limit your RPMs from the drivers seat you spend pennies in comparison.
Someone must have an idea like this that they use or maybe know if there are any major negatives involved in doing it this way.Any dolt with a Torch and Welder can customize a car.
