What your describing are rat rods but, if there in primer, there nicer than most other rat rods which are rusty cars, driven with sometimes nice shiney engines but often times not, most ither have inadaquate brakes or none at all. Most of these cars would not pass inspection and are not legal. The fairlanes can be pricey but the Chevy corvairs are not, I'v seen variouse corvairs go for less than a grand in running condition but need work. If it were me, I'd just get somthing like a corvaire or other that you like and find cheap then, do all bodywork and drivetrain/suspension mods and then instead of putting nice paint on it, just finish it off with black or grey primer. The loud exzaust is nice but the sound police don't like it so, instead of running headders and str8 pipes or zoomies/weedburners ( that have no baffeling ), run dual exzaust with Thrush Magnum glasspacks to quiet it down just enough that the sound police shoulden't complain. Look around in classafieds for your state/area or just look around. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
