Narrower front axle than rear on a 'T'..?
Can anyone help?
I've been offered a drop tube axle for my T-Bucket.
It's narrower than my I-Beam - but sure looks nice!
It's almost 44 inches from kingpin to kingpin - anyone driving anything similar?
Can anyone advise if it's a safe idea to swap out a narrower front end than the rear track?

Narrower track is not a safety problem, and 44" is only 2" narrower than a standard P&J tube axle.
However, if you're going from I-beam to tube, what kind of front axle locators do you have: Split wishbones, 4-bar or hairpins? That can make a difference.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 10-01-2004 at 07:30 PM.

Thanks for your help!
I'm using Total Performance leafs, Bat-Wings and hangers - and this new tube allows for an I-Beam style mount (percho bolts etc).
The trick is that my TP 26" leaf spring on TP Bat-Wings/hangers appears to fit the mounting holes exactly - and my luck is never that reliable, so I'm being very cautious. (The holes are mounted at 31.5")
So to work I'm after a drop tube that fits the Total Performance measurements and doesn't cause problems with the track/safety issues.
Thanks to you - I might just try my luck!
