Thats the thing to do FMX....with my motor for the Goat at the shop i needed a mock up motor to be able to get the motor plates fabbed up and brackets welded in so i put a "wanted mock up motor" ad on the website for my local drag strip. 3 days later i had a guy 10 miles from me email me that he had a 454 with a cracked deck that he would give me free. So i now use that for my mock up motor.
Check your local drag strips and see if they have a website or put a ad in the local swapper paper and you'll find a junk block you can use for free or at the most maybe $25.

Alright cool, thanks man. I will be sure to do that... About the setup, here is a pic of how I wan't the car to sit and all and same look and all but also throw some metallic blue flames on there that are pretty dark.... If I wanted some tires like that that are pretty wide but not all out like some 18 inches or nothing just a bit smaller like a little under 16, then besides tubbing out the body what else needs to be done? I am just wondering on this I am not going to go out and do it or nothing but I just wan't to see what it would take to do it. I may just keep both the front and back tires small but I love the look of wides in the back and pretty skinny ones on the front. Sorry I am not naming sizes or nothing, I can't remember sizes on tires again and what the numbers mean anymore. I used to know when I was in auto tech one class but then over the summer I never had to use nothing that dealt with tires and forgot...www.streamlineautocare.com

For the flames I would like this style but metallic blue and kind of dark and the grill painted blue and all as well... Tell me what you guy's think about this. Also is any of you guy's good at photoshop to where you can get that first pic I posted on here and put the blue flames on it? If so then I would greatly appreciate it if you could do that so I can see how it would look... Now I am getting way over my head, heh, nah just trying to get idea's that's all.www.streamlineautocare.com

FMX, In regards to your firewall, If the camaro was put in rite, you should not have to do any cutting on your firewall. I'm not sure how wide the camaro is,It may be too wide for fender clearence when every thing is in place.I have a 68 camaro sub. under my 40 chevy and if I don't drive into driveways at an angel my fenders rub the tires. (ya learn to Live with it ) The sub. should have been narrowed when put in.would like to switch to disc brakes in front ,but no clearence. And I'm not about to rise it up.(nose bleed LOL) Your 48 may be wider than the 40??? Never compaired them before. Not trying to scare ya but its something to be aware of.Dan

A 40 I think is skinnier than a 48. Anyways I got disks on the front. I will get some measurements tomarrow and send them to you and let me know what you think on it... If they rub then it's ok, I am used to tires rubbing on our truck at sharp turns. I am used to it now.www.streamlineautocare.com

Its not a easy job at all bud believe me, i'll give ya a short list of whats needed for it from when i did it to the goat...and the prices are as close as i can remember it costing me.
Narrowed rear frame clip with rear coil overs-$1300
narrowed rearend-not sure what they charge to do it now but i bought a whole DTS dana60 for $3200
Fuel cell and pumps, lines fitting etc-$250-$1000
wishbone locator-$120
Tires&wheels-$1200
tubs-$80
rear firewall&floor-$300
then you should put at least a 6 point bar in it to streangthen it back up -$200-300
Theres more but that some of the stuff off the top of my head. Not cheap and a ton or work!

Yeah sounds like something I can do later one. It would be nice to just go ahead and do it now but I can't because of money of course. A lot of that stuff you named I need already like fuel cell and all that.... Narrowing the frame wouldn't be too bad to do just making sure it's straight and all is what I would worry about. Now say my fender wells or tubs under my car are pretty skinny, can I cut them out, throw a Ford 9inch rear end under it and throw 11 inch tires in the rear or maybe even 12 without having to cut the frame? I would like to get them as wide as possible without narrowing the frame down. I am going to throw a nice 6 point cage in there as well and cover it with (I think it's tweed?). So that would be out of the way. But I thought about it and if I am going to make the car then I might as well spend the extra couple hundred on some of the things. I don't plan on going ALL out right now or nothing because I need to see what I wan't to do, get prices for the most important things to get it road worthy and save up instead of getting all this expensive stuff and end up being stuck in the middle and not able to drive it and have to sell it...
Thanks for the help again guy's, I am learning tons just in about 3 days here.www.streamlineautocare.com

Oh also on the front I am not going to do coil overs, I will just upgrade the springs and get the 2 in lower ones (will that lower the car a bit)? Also what are some good shocks to put in the front because there are none in the middle of the spring, just the spring...www.streamlineautocare.com

Again i'm not familiar with the 40's type cars but i know on muscle cars, lets say a chevelle, you can get away with running about a 11-12" tire by simply cutting out the stock wheel well and replacing it with "mini tubs". then just play around with the wheel backspacing and about a 12" tire can be put under it without toching the frame.
But like i said you will need to look at your car and see how much room you have avaliable to put a mini tub in there and then figure out the back spacing and see what you can fit.
Plus allow a bit of room for tire groth at speed.

Here are some pics of the front end. You can see how there are no shocks, etc. If you see anything else missing or got any tips on what I should do to this thing then please let me know...www.streamlineautocare.com
