Geez, more anti-Ford dribble. No sweat, Tech. After all these years of running my Blue Oval stuff I'm used to it. Actually, I have owned some GM stuff, makes great trading material at the swap meets...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Henry, What a beauty! Golly, they sure knew how to build em on the outside tho!!! Mine has the 301, 4.9 Turbo engine...i'm wondering if that's what yours had? B/C your 100% right on about the acceleration...i'm sure some of it is b/c i'm dealing with a 24 yr old engine that's been sittin doin nuthin and needs some more work, but most of it is the nature of the beast...it's REAL slow startin off...but once she gets her wind ...flies like an eagle! Nice ride...I have no idea what she tops out at since the speedo only goes to 90...nothin like the ProStreet guys here toppin out at 238.8 ha ha, but i'm sure if i knew how fast it was i'd need a change of pants LOL! I'm a wimp what can I say ha ha! Anyhow, I think the engine history is a little interesting b/c they were experimenting with fuel econ and perfomance after the oil crisis...at least that's my understanding. Cool website put together by the Rehorn brothers who are self proclaimed 301 Turbo worshippers ha ha! They have a bunch of history on the 81 T/A, HUGE website packed with info...http://publish.uwo.ca/~agrehorn/
As for the Rims...good question...I wondered if they are original myself, I thought the Turbo T/A's were built with the turbo rims...but mine has gold snowflake...I found the build sheet and all it says is 55P Gold Wheels...so I need to find someplace to decipher the numbers.
On a third note...I also think it's funny that I haven't let my kid put a "body kit" on his VW...but if I had to guess...I would guess that the 2nd gen T/A's were some of the 1st cars with body kits LOL
An STREETS sweetie, I don't know what to do with you...ha ha! You're always takin my stuff outa context! LOL!!! BUT I LIKE IT!!!! Thanks for the ego boost! You miss 100% of the shots you never take

Jerilynne,
My wheels are stock turbo. I think you have the "Disco" version. I remember the "Jimmy Carter" speedo. If your speedo didn't go over 80, then you wouldn't want to go that fast. Yeah . . . right. I clocked mine over a measured mile (and I ain't saying where coughI-80cough) at 135, and I think it still had a bit more. Passing gear was fine. From a dead stop it was a stone.
My wife thought it was pretty slow. After she drove it the first time, she said she couldn't get it over 55. I found out she was looking at the tach instead of the speedo. I don't want to know how fast she was going . . .
The "Snowflake" wheels were available for quite a few years in slightly different castings. Matter of taste. Smoky & the Bandit fans liked the snowflakes. I liked the turbos. Your car looks great, though. Here are some photos.
