Roadster Pickup Chassis completed
This week I completed the chassis for my 31 Ford roadster Pickup. I boxed an original model A frame, and added the kick-up at the rear, which fits under the bed section. The rearend is from a Chev S10 pickup, with my own design of parallel 4 bar and coil spring suspension. (the shocks fit in the center of the springs, but I haven't installed them yet.) I designed and built the engine mounts, drop-out crossmember/tranny mount, and the front and rear Panhard rods, and Vega steering mount. The front axle is a 4" drop Super Bell, and the front 4-bars are from Horton in Ontario, Canada. The engine is from a 1986 Pontiac Bonneville, and is exactly as I bought it, except for a new timing chain and sprockets, a bunch of chrome parts and some yellow paint (this yellow will be the finished body colour). I spent a day pressure washing it, and 2 days with a rotary wire brush getting red of 18 years of grundge. My next step will be to mount the fenders, splash aprons, and the new bed I have built, and the steel cab section which I have modified from what was originally a 2-door sedan.Old guy hot rodder
