Side opening on 34 Roadster?
Can someone help me with this:
What's the distance from top of the door to edge of the canvas roof on a Du Vall window equipped 33/34 Ford Roadster w/canvas top?
I know this can't be an accurate information, since there are many different/home made Du Vall windscreens.
I need the information to set up the PW mechanism in my rod. Yes, I know roadsters don't have side windows, but my rod will have it.

That's a little tough to answer too because you're going to make or have made the canvas top, so, to a degree you control the size of the opening. Do you already have your top bows? If not, I would suggest you get them, make them, whatever. Then set them on the car and use 2" masking tape to mock up the shape of the top. You accomplish several things. First you can determine how you want the top to look. Second, you'll figure out if you need to modify the bows to get the shape that looks best. You'll figure head room. And of course your window opening size and shape. Plus, with a DuVall, because of the shape at the top, outside corner, you're going to have to rig some sort of a, roughly, triangle shaped filler if you want a full seal, or make a "wrap around" header, which again will affect your glass shape. It all comes down to how you design your top first.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I don't disagree with you on that, but this is really not that accurate.
I have fitted a pair of PW (only mechanism) from another car in my doors. My doors are just now without doorskin so they're very easy to work with compared to when they're fitted together with the doorskins again.
The mechanism is tested and works very well, but I need to make it stop on top where I want it. Since not the sidewindows or the front screen is in place I will make this stop point a little changeable. But the changeable range can't be too large. In order to put the chageable stop point area ROUGHLY in the right place I need to know this side opening.
Another matter is the fact that later this will be a question of design and things to fit or not to fit together. My bet is that this opening actually NOT vary very much from car to car! Especially not for cars with Duval wind screen.
Very little out of line and the whole car looks odd.
But of course. When the day comes to actually fit the top, or to fit the sidewindows to the front screen, then it's important to do things in the right sequence!

I've made the PW mechanism possible to close window opening from 20 cm (7,9") to app 24 cm (9,5").
Since I've got little to compare with, and I cant wait to to this because I need to put the doorskins together with the door frames again.
I do know that the total, vertical high on a Du Vall winscreen is app 20,5cm (8,1") in the middle, on top of the cowl.
However, the low edge on the sidewindows are much lower than the top of the cowl. But on the other side, rods with Duvall screen always have a canvas top which goes around the corners and a little down along each side of the windscreen.
