    finned aluminum dash inserts

Just as a heads up, I bought one of those 5 gauge finned aluminum dash inserts ( the ones that look like the old Champion ones) for my 32 coupe off a guy who sells them on Ebay and lives in Florida. They look great, but after I ground the holes out so the smaller gauges would fit I started on the big hole for the speedo. MAJOR grinding to do to even get the speedo to fit into it , then there's MAJOR grinding to do on the fins around the hole so it'll sit in there the way it's supposed to. Now it might have been meant for the gauges to come in from the back but I don't think so cuz it doesn't look right. Anyway, if you buy one of these off Ebay make sure you ask what gauges it'll work with, cuz mine are SW wings ones and it's taking a LOT of work and modifying to make it work!

Man, I'll tell you Y'got THAT right! Way up here on the west coast of Canada we're convinced that they have "Canada bins" at all aftermarket shops - they know it's too much hassle and expense for us to ship anything back to the states and that we'll fix it instead, so we get the, ahem, "seconds"! I just can't believe some of the crap out there, and from the "big names" too!

I can tell you this, nothin' in street/hot roddin' fits right out of the box. Pay big bucks, Unpack it & Whack It! That's what I've learned! Sometimes it hurts.
