Custom Non-Optima,....Battery Box ?
With the mixed reviews of Optima batteries, I guess I'll stay with the group 34 Interstate battery I've used for many years. I haven't seen many great looking hold down and battery box's for non-Optima batteries. Any ideas ?Kevin

I won't buy another optima again, but if you ever try an Odyssey you will be impressed. I am going to fabricate my own, I have seen some neat ones on Pinterest that might spark some ideas for youWhy is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

I feel the same, no more Optima's for me.
For a box I used an old Coke cooler.

A friend of mine went with a milk truck theme.
In the bed of the truck you'll find a large stainless steel milk jug, (gas tank) and one of those milk boxes (battery box) that sat on the front porch..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

My pics won't load ?
Anyway, I may not be trying hard enough, but the cool looking hold down's are made just for Optima.
Just some thin metal box's, like from Taylor.Kevin

batterybox.jpgKevin, This is a pic of one I want to make. If i told you stories about the Odyssey they would sound like BS, but they are true, they are made by EnerSys about 25 miles from me in Warrensburg MO , they make tons of other batteries as well (Most big brands), and no they are not all equal they tell me, a Odyssey can be deep cycled over and over with no loss, just because they are small doesn't mean they won't crank either. I had one a guy gave me that worked there years ago, my rod wasn't done so I put it on a small 8-10 ft crappie boat and deep cycled it for 2 years with a trolling motor, the only power source no other motor on the boat, after that I got my rod done threw it in there where it lasted another 8 years!! As far as I am know its the best battery out there. Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

I can't remember my size, but I will check, yes Enersys makes them. Along with the world's supply of others, I saw eBay has quite a few as well for good prices, they are not cheap but they are small and very powerful! Yes I am planning on making that box in stainless, I thought it looked good and different than some othersWhy is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower
