vettster, We too left a trail of boat and raft anchors around Div 5. It's surprising there are any 392's left after the fuel , gas and alcohol guys got done with them. Of course the gassers mangled quite a number of them too. haha

It's a shame when we look back at what we threw away getting blocks and heads and cranks. Guys would hijack for adjustable rocker arm sets today. I know we tossed at least half a dozen sets of these.

One old Imperial we picked up for $25 we had sitting out in the back yard and the neighbors complained so a buddy brought his wrecker over and we literally ripped the motor and trans out. All we cut was the exhaust pipes. We didn't even unbolt the hood ...we just peeled it back. We gutted the whole motor and saved just the block and heads and crank. The rest went thru the windshield onto the front seat. Then we hauled it to the bone yard and got $25 for it because it had a good battery and tires.

We had several sets of dimpled valve covers that came on the adjustable rocker motors. I think these were 300's..just tossed them...they weren't cool.

When it came to the 426's we did about the same. They just cost a lot more. One was a Challenger that dropped a valve. I think we gave $500 for it. We got the block, heads (one needed a seat and some grinding), crank, oil pump, 2 x4 and manifold and aircleaner. 4 speed. Dana 60 rear end. Junked the rest. I don't remember exactly but i think we evened out with the sale of the 4 spd and rear end. I don't think we sold the carbs..I think they went inthe dumpster.

Ok..which way to the firing squad.
