Hemi question
I think my dads old 354 poly block might be in my grandfathers shop somewhere. I have an extra pair of 331 heads. If I can find the block I might put 'em together and make a display engine. If I ever wanted to, would this combo work for a running enigine? I know 354 Hemi heads work on a 354 poly block, but would 331's?

The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is that the early (51-53 and 54 2bbl) heads have smaller valves and ports and are not really a good head to use on the a larger displacement 354. The early heads also require a different intake as the coolant is circulated thru the intake and the thermostat housing is alsoon the intake. There are no provisions on the end of the heads for the water crossover/thermostat housing like the later Hemis use.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Thanks. I think I know where my dads old 354 poly block is and I have a pair of 331 heads. I'll bolt them together to build a display engine.

Not all 331 heads are equal. '55, 331 heads are in some ways superior to 354 heads.
Thanks!! I usually do the "NZ Slang" lookup but decided to poke the bear this time! ;):D:p
