whats the mean piston speed ,in feet per minute of a 383.?There are old cars and then there are classics...Mercedes Benz.

feet per minute at ,say 5,400 rpm?,given that the "B" 383 has a bore of 4.250 and a stroke of 3.380.There are old cars and then there are classics...Mercedes Benz.

Well, since the piston travels down 3.380" and back up 3.380" with each crank revolution, its travel would equal 6.76" for each revolution of the crank. If the crank is making 5,400 revolutions in a minute, the piston is traveling 36,504" in a minute. Dividing that by 12, the number of inches in a foot, we find that the piston speed at 5,400 rpm's is 3,042 ft. per minute.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
