A 440 casted in 69 would produce 375hp, as long as the original cam, etc are still intake. Prior to 67 they were 365hp if I'm not mistaken. After 67 they built the performance block, granted it was only 10hp more, but heck, 10 is better than 1.
71 marked the decline of the 440 big block power by dropping the hp rating to 370 then in 72 it went down to a measly 280hp."Now bring me those cheese sandwich appetizers you talked me out of."

Most historians believe that 375 hp rating was on the conservative side, but I've never seen a stocker dyno'd to find out. If you got a 440 and it's running on most of the cylinders it'll smoke your tires. It's got tons of mid-range torque to keep'm spinnin.

A 727 from a 360 will NOT fit on a 440 anyway! So forget it! you need a 727 "B" tranny, the 360 is a small block and uses the "A" tranny. They look similar but the holes will not line up.
