    55 dodge mayfair

Anyone know what small v8 would have been in this car. The cars long gone but the engine trans and rear end still remain. Wondering if it might be worth the effort to move it.

I was confused as I had not heard of one of these before......so I surfed the net and found these. My uncle owned a new '55 Plymouth, and it had the "polysphere engine"....not the hemi. Looks like they offered a six, and 241 and 260 polysphere V-8s in '55 Plymouths.

"Hello, I bought my wife a '55 Mayfair from a person in Canada. I've had trouble finding info for it because of its Canadian origin. From what I have found, it's actually a '55 Plymouth Belvedere that the Canadians slapped a Dodge front clip on and labeled a Dodge. The engine number starts with D59. I have not found anything on that, but I think it is a 260cid because of info I found on the vin number. If someone can give me any info regarding this beast, I would appreciate it, or a web site like this one that deals with Canadian Dodges such as mine... Mnay Thanx, Dave"

270 Hemi, 270 Poly, or a 230 ci 6cyl. spark plugs going into valve covers = HEMI, grab it, Poly, still a decent vintage engine.

until 1956 Plymouth used Dodge engines, Dodge at the time had a 270 Hemi and a 270 Poly, 260 Poly was there also, but uncommon, I just found this on Allpar. so the '55 Plymododge Mayfair/ Belvedere would have a Dodge 270 Hemi or Poly, even tho it's really a plymo
