eagle stroker
has anyone used a 408 eagle stroker kit , a freind order it from summit for a 360 block and it said it`s internally balanced but on eagle site they say it has no balancing, can someone tell me if this crank is balanced for factory spec`s and can be run as is or is there no balancing done at all and it has to go to a machine shop to be finished

Probably be best to call the people selling it and see if it is a balanced assembly.... Hopefully they will know!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

summit is saying that it is balanced for the pre 70 340`s and on the eagle site it is saying to balance it at local machine shop. it was order as a kit for a 360 so i am wondering if they balance their cranks for a neutral balancers and if you what to use a external balancer(360) then you have to have it done locally. eagle do have the sevice offered at there location but the crank was ordered thinking it was internally balanced.if all it takes is a 340 balancer and you can run it as is that would be fine. i don`t have a phone# to contact eagle if someone here has a contact # i would like to have it and call so i can help my freind sort this out.thanks

thanks dave, from what i have learned , all chrysler cast LA eagle cranks are balanced to a 2050g bob weight and you have to check the weight of the piston/rod you are using and balance the crank +/-, even with their stroker kits, if we had known that we would have paid the extra 200$ for balancing. when it said internally ballanced should of asked exactly what that meant

eagle balance assembly
so everything is here and the final weight is 200grams(piston/rod/bearings) lighter than bob weight eagle has given us(2050grams), i ask this question because there is no machine shop near us that can balance a crank, so does anybody know if this combination can live being dirt track raced at no more than 6200rpms. all the 360`s we have run were just 0.030 with no balancing.

If there is no one around there that can balance it---what are the weights and exactly how did you weigh them???? not trying to be smartass, but most people don't understand balancing, and what the methods are. I balance an average of 3 cranks a week and I check all of them, even if they are balanced assys!!!

no your not a smartass, this crank assemble is complete from eagle 410cid/360 sb dodge, the 2050gram bob weight is from eagle, the rod / piston weight we done with a digital scale and a gig to hang the rod parrel to the scale to get a true reading, if the scale is reading right? the only shop that balance cranks is in the next province 1600km away, after ordering the kit from summit they said it was internally balanced but when eagle was contact they said that final balance should be checked. i understand the 100% of big end + 50% of the small end/piston/ pin/locks/ rings then x2 for both assembles but even these number seem way of for a complete kit that was order. if we had known that eagle would have checked that final balance for 200$ we would have done it but thats to late now. it cost 150$ just to ship it to armstrongs in N.S.

will this was the first weekend for the new engine, my friend who owns the car put the engine together and ran it at the local dirt track, the engine idles smooth and revs easy, he ran a 10 lap qualifier and 20lap main with no problems, so it will take time before we know if the balance being off will hurt the engine.
