Spark plug wires coming loose on 392 Hemi...
Hi Everyone, I have a 392 Hemi in my '32 Ford & the spark plug wires keep coming off. The little medal round things that are inside the plastic boots {where they attach to the plugs} are to big & they keep coming off. How can I tighten these up? I can't squeeze the plastic boots or they'll break.... Thanks, Bill

Bill, just use a pair of needle nose pliers, slip tham inside the ceramic boot cover and give a little sqeeze, not too much now, and check for fit. A little is better than a lot, keep it up until they are snug. I had to do this on my Hemi with a brand new set of Taylor wires.

Thanks Roland, but the needle nose plyers won't fit in there. The little round 'things' are up inside the plastic boots too far & there isn't any room between the little round 'things' & the plastic boots {they touch}. Bill

OK Bill here's a couple of pics. Your 392 is the same as this Desoto or should be. The ceriamic Hard boot ( the long one) has a rubber boot inside of it, inside of that rubber boot is the spark plug snap connector, the one that makes contact and slips over the plug itself. Slide your pliers between the rubber and the connector and turn one side of the connector towards the center. This should tighten the connector. Phewwwww I hope that makes sense......

Thank You Roland!!!! I got it... I'll take her for a drive tomorrow but by pulling on the wires after they are on it's hard to pull them off. So that will do it. There were 3 of them that kept coming off & now these 3 are on tighter than the rest! Thanks again, Bill
