new to site, just a little bout' me
i'm matt. i've been building cars for at least 17 yrs. my first car was a 67' malibu 2-dr HT first built in the late 80's before the wide avalibility of reproduction parts and such. it was built the old fashioned way, from local sources, networking and salvage yards( when they still had cool parts cars in them). this is how i learned and still like to buid my cars (as much as possible). i am currently working as a professional antique auto craftsman restoring cars and building hot rods for a living. its what i wanted to do since i was 15 and worked really hard to achieve. not an easy task living on the southeast side of this country. i've built my malibu twice already and she needs another going over again since i did drive her everyday when i was in school. i learned a lot more when i started building my 55' chevy and am almost kinda' done with it for now. i built it or am building it as a custom from the mid-60's. it's a nice driver, but not a museum piece. i also built a 84' C-10 straight out of a junkyard and cast off parts no one wanted. i built it out of necessity. the only mail order item on it is the seat cover and everything else on it is original era parts from over 20 different trucks. i drive this one every day to work.i recently aquired a 30-31 Model A sedan that i'm going to build into a rat rod or at least my version of one. never really worked on a car this old and am looking forward to learning how to build it the way the old timers did. i'm currently gathering parts and doing research, but man is this original stuff hard to find. look forward to hearing from you guys..
