Guess I should sign in
Hi all, the name is Dave, hot rods and music's my game.
My current hot rod (and if my wife has any say so, my last) is a 1940 Plymouth Pick Up. I got it a few years ago and it's been a slow build. I had a battle with myself for a couple of months when I first got it. There weren't very many of these things made. I couldn't decide whether to restore it or cut it up. It was all there. I chose the latter and I'm glad I did! Putzing around at 30mph wouldn't be no fun.
Took a 1974 Buick Apollo apart and cut up the truck. Used the Apollo front clip and the rear end (383 gear), dropped in a chevy 350 crate motor (with a nice cam of course) after relocating the motor mounts. Buick 350's are diff...hmmm. Stretched the wheel base 1 inch forward and 1 inch back so the wheels set in the fenders better. And damned if that Apollo drive shaft didn't fit perfect. That old beat up farm truck sure looks better. Very little rust but a whole lot of bent up metal. I've gotten most of the metal close to it's original shape but I have to give my ears a break now and then. Working on the bed now and trying to save the tail gate. It's rough but it has the plymouth script stamped in it and they are hard to come by. Wish I had more time (and money) cause I'd really like to get er done. Almost ready for finish body work and paint which I'd like to leave to the pros. But, they sure want a chunk to do it right. So, for now, it runs, it drives, and it's a whole bunch of fun. And I work on it as I can.
My time constraint is due to having three businesses. One of which is a NASCAR retail store- tee shirts, hats, die cast, and everything else they can think of making with a drivers name on it.
My wife runs the store during the week while I work outside in the biz that makes the money, irrigation service and installation.
Had the NASCAR store going on 12 years and the other over 20.
My third biz is a music publishing company I started a couple of years ago.
My current CD ( yeah it's country) is now on CD baby and I have two songs ( I write my own ) in Nashville right now being pitched by my song plugger. No bites yet, but I keep hoping. You can check me out at:

Well that's about me, I hope I didn't bore anyone.Last edited by musicman; 05-21-2005 at 05:15 PM.

I like Chevys too. I like 'em all. I root for the Fords on sunday cause they are the underdogs. Nascar never gives 'em nothing, no concessions, unlike the GM products. Ford has had to fight for every championship they've won. I think that's gotten a little better over the last 3 years since NASCAR gave the cup to Gibbs and Labonte in that extended Pontiac. Now, with Dodge in the fray, there's been some equalization. Don't hear too much anymore about the Chevy guys begging Nascar for something to make them better.http://www.myspace.com/daveharrill
