Me a Newbie!?
Well, I just wanted to post here and introduce myself.
I have been into building rigs and rods for what seems to be ever and I finally came across this site.
My first car was a 1957 Chevy 150 Business Coupe. I built it up with a decent motor and 4 speed. Ran pretty decent and was a fun car to build but I was young and dumb and ended up wrapping it around a tree.
Wish I could have it now!
I had a couple other builders after that and played with them for a while.
A few years ago I got into building 4X4 rigs (still into them).
I had been helping a buddy build a 1967 Firebird off and on for the last 20 years (has been in his garage the whole time).
I have always been the motivator of the work.
The car is a stripped model with drum brakes, basic interior and column shift and we converted it to front disc.
We found a new rebuilt 396 and turbo 400 and fit that into the engine compartment since the original 350 was toast.
The buddy is going through a divorce and offered me the project for a decent price (with the ex's permission)so I will be trailering it home on Saturday and finally be able to finish the car.
It will be a decent project and probably be a year before I get it on the road properly.
Well, I feel like I have been rambling the whole time so I will leave it at that.
Thanks for reading.
