New to forums
Greetings all. I was looking for some tech advice for my car and apparently I found the right place. Figured maybe I should join the club and reveal some details about me.
My name is Paul Banta. My family and I live in the Pacific Northwest. Bremerton Washington to be specific. My wife and I have been married 13 years and have 3 kids; ages 11, 8 and 6.
I am an officer in the Navy and have been serving for over 15 years, and am currently stationed on the USS JOHN C. STENNIS aircraft carrier. I rode submarines as an enlisted man for 10 years then got commissioned and went surface a couple years ago. We are moving to Hawaii next year and are very excited about the whole thing.
My car:
1965 Chevy II Nova 2 door. I am the 3rd owner and have owned the car for about 8 years, most of which have been spent in the garage. The car went through a frame up resto about 15 years ago and sat under a tarp in a garage after that. I bought it from a guy I worked with, ripped out the straight 6 and put a 350 in it. I wasn't satisfied so I had a 383 stroker built.
Other stuff: flat top forged pistons, Double hump "fuelie" heads with 202/160 stainless valves and some minor homebrew port work. Harland Sharp roller rockers. Lunati cam 272 dur. 480 lift. Fluidampr balancer, Holley 650 D.P. on a Torker II intake. HEI ignition. Hooker headers coated by Jet Hot through Hooker Turbo mufflers. Warmed over Turbo 350 transmission with 9" Daeco 3000 stall converter. 10 bolt rearend with Richmond 3.73 posi-trac unit.
I also added disc brakes to the front (boy, was THAT worth the money) and a polyeurathane bushing kit, new gas tank and other minor mechanical stuff.
The body is straight give one minor ding right by the passenger headlight where someone brushed the side of a garage. The inside is done except for a door panel and glove box. The outside is not done, but I hope to get that done this summer.
As you may have figured out from my user name, I love to play golf. I have been playing for over 20 years and should be better than I am (but aren't we all). I am also the drummer in a rock/blues band with some guys from my ship. My kids take up most of my time, but now that school is out and baseball season is over, I have time for other things!!
I look forward to being part of this community and being able to pick the brains of people that may otherwise charge you money for it. Hopefully I can contribute a fraction of what I take away.
If you are ever in the Seattle area, look me up.

Re
Sweet Sweet ride Paul... I,m sure your 11 year old has dibbs on it already.... My son is in the Navy, and just went through buds training in San Diego.. Was pulled on the third day of Hell week. Apparently he was running around the beach with his hands up thinking he was still carrying a boat. Three days with no sleep will do that to ya !!! If you take that car to Hawaii dont park it near a volcano and keep it covered. Later DH

drg84,
Thanks for the offer. I do have the radio for it. Not sure if it works. The guy before me had an aftermarket stereo in it. Some day I will get around to finishing the inside and put that radio back in.
Cheers!
Paul

Paul Welcome to CHR. That's one great looking chevy. I'm a golf nut myself and use to have a handicap of 6 but now in my early 60's and its slipped to about 16 which is not bad since I only play about 8 times a year now because of my back. Had a brother who was in the navy a ensign I think during the vietnam war and he wasn't to happy with the navy so he got out after 4 years.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
