New guy 55 DeSoto
I'm a new member. Name is Reverend Colin.
Live in upstate New York, just below Saratoga.
Big on Motorcycles and getting back into hot rods. Just picked up a 55 DeSoto 2 dr HT. with a decent body and running motor. NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET. (yes that was supposed to be loud)
If I can help anyone with info on Old Harleys, it would be my pleasure. I do know a thing or too about old hot rods too. If I can remember.
Thanks,
Glad to meet you all,Amen,
Reverend Colin

I won't get it home till this Sat or Sun., of course I'll know better then. I'm interested in any interchangeable parts from other Mopars etc. I understand a Chevy water pump can be used on some of these old girls. SB mopar fuel pumps, Adjustable rockers? from another model?? any and all old and new tricks.
I did see one on the web with a EFI set up. I'd like to see what I could make fit. I know a chevy HEI fits the Chrysler but will it fit the Desoto? I get the impression the only 4 barrel manifold to fit this baby is a 55 291 manifold.
Also thinking about a chevy 700 or 250 od tranny. Maybe changing the rear end too. oops I'm getting away from the motor.
Who has the best parts, fairest prices? What should I look for in this engine. Anything prone to break or wear out prematurely.
I'd like to upgrade to 12 volt and believe this is positive ground. How do I go about that?
Well that's a good start.Amen,
Reverend Colin
