Northstar engine into a vW sand rail?
anybody ever hear of such a thing. I have a sand rail chassie with a fiberglass dune buggy body and I would like to find someone who has fabricated the necessary frame changes to achieve this.
Massive power for 800 pounds of car.
This will be a street legal (oh yeh) car to be driven as a fun thing and go to shows with.Charlie Brown

V8 Buggy
One of the neighboring shops does these on a production basis. Last time I talked with Kevin (the owner) they had a 14 month backlog at a 1/week production rate. Most of the customers are spoiled rich kids in the middle east.
These are all mid-engined and it sounds like your chassis may be a rear engine affair. I don't think you're going to want to hang that Northstar out the back end.
Try http://quicksandperformance.com to see what they look like.

Your right mikev. It seems that all northstar motors are transversly mounted, including the aurora motors. However, one option might be to set it up to be rear wheel drive and steering. That way, all you have to do is swap in a caddilac transaxle in the rear and set up a steering linkage. That would be one wild rideRight engine, Wrong Wheels

northstar engine swap
I want the NS engine and tranny mounted transverse in the car. This will be a street car and not for the dunes. I will drop the front end and put low profile tires front and back and have a street buggy that will sh*t and git.
I know I will have to do lots of modification on the tranny install but have seen lots of applications where someone has taken the engine and tranny of a front wheel drive car and put it mid engine to give a much better weight and balance ratio.
Thanks for all the good ideas, this is just a idea ofan old phart who hot rodded in the 50'sCharlie Brown
