    I6 terror

This is my first post here

My name is Schon Weg and I've been a caraholic for 25 years.

My daily driver is a mildly tuned, 5-speed, '01 BMW 325xi with many more mods to come. I'm planning to install my new short-shifter this weekend, a cat-back exhaust next spring, and a lightweight flywheel and M5 clutch when the original clutch gets a little older. The car is factory rated at 185HP/175 ft.lbs. from a normally aspirated, 2.5 liter, inline six. I've already added: software to improve throttle response, rev limit, and eliminate the top speed governor (135mph); cold air intake with a K&N; by-passed the (stupid design for a BMW) clutch delay valve; sport springs; 18" BBS alloys wrapped in Potenza S-03 rubber. This is BMW's first AWD model. 68% of the power is sent to the rears to maintain that RWD Bimmer "feel" and the thing grips corners like Spiderman. NOT a drag car but don't try anything funny with me on a road course.

My current project is a '65 Chevy C-10 longbed fleetside. I did a frame off resto and, in the process, fell in love with POR-15. The front sheet metal is now coming together around the 63,000 original miles 230 I6. Sticking with the I6, I've got a '65 292 that I hope to build this winter to improve the truck's motivation. Major headwork, a purpose-build cam, carbing, HEI, etc, etc ought to wake up the old Chevy. I've already installed an Early Classic drop kit and a late-model Dodge 5-speed with overdrive to help with the highway cruising. An adapter plate and a Ford throw-out bearing were needed. Now my Chevy has Dodge and Ford transplants!!!

My next project will either be to help my father build his 1955-purchased, never-rodded, '31 Model A Roadster to show condition OR finish my '70 GTO drop-top that I started in highschool and never finished. I plan to build that motor as well when time and finances permit.

Sorry for the long post. I'm excited to share ideas and knowledge with all of you.

Hi schon, welcome to the site. You might want to check out Clifford Performance if you haven't already. They are the kings of the domestic inline six cylinder. Good luck with your project.
